I was so excited to photograph Wanda on Christmas Eve! She is such a lovely person with a lovely voice to match. Wanda has what I like to call a “shoe voice”. A “shoe voice” is a voice that is so good, that you have to take your shoe off and throw it at the stage it’s so good. And yeah, I just made that up that phrase :). But hey, it’s THAT good.
If y’all haven’t taken the time to listen to Wanda sing, then y’all are doing yourselves a great disservice. But it’s okay, you can fix it now by listening to her YouTube channel. Well, after you finish viewing this post :)

‘Wanda Jae’, born Wanda J. Manier on March 21st, is a singer, songwriter, who performs with unmatched skills. A Kansas City, KS native, Manier’s musical journey started from childhood. Inspired by real life experiences, Wanda used music as a form of therapy. In her school years, Wanda participated in multiple choirs, a couple of school productions, school and local talent shows, and church plays. Manier has the ability to grasp from every genre of music, particularly rooted in gospel, and jazz. In 2011 Ms. Manier decided to pursue music as a profession.
Currently, Manier is a 4-year veteran of the Kansas City music scene gaining experience by working with seasoned artists and following in the teachings of notable figures and mentors. Wanda has sung backgrounds for famous R&B group Brownstone, opened up for bands such as The Elders & Ringo Star. Her musical influences include Whitney Houston, Ledisi, Patti LaBelle, Marian Anderson, Ella Fitzgerald, Karen Clark-Sheard and John P. Kee, just name a few.
Ms. Manier has been described as an energetic well-rounded musician, whose stage presence is an uncanny experience. The no holds bar attitude in Manier’s music sets her apart from the rest. She is often recognized by her efforts to bring soul back into today’s R&B and Neo-Soul music.
