Bio
‘Joshua’ was born Joshua Celestin to parents Augusma and Jocelyne Celestin in Danbury, CT on July 16, 1991. He is to be their only male child, the youngest of three children. Born into a family with amazing musical abilities, it was inevitable that some of that talent rub off on young Joshua. By the age of 8, he was well on his path of attaining amazing musical abilities. He acquired a unique taste for the bass when his father, Augusma, taught him his first few licks. Joshua then took over and added to his abilities on his own time. He then proceeded to teach himself the drums by which he has entertained many church services at his local congregation where he attended. By his teenage years, Joshua was the main drummer at the French Speaking Baptist Church in Danbury, CT.
As with most young men, Joshua’s teenage years were met with extreme difficulties and challenges. Due to hardships posed on a young man his age, Joshua walked away from his talents and promising future. It seemed as if he would never return to his love (music). But the upright teachings of his father and mother guided him even in the midst of chaos. Eventually the call on his life to live for Christ was seen and heard over all the clutter that was his life at the time. With tears in his eyes, passion in his heart, and a renewed mind, Joshua rededicated his life unto the Lord his God. Since then he has been on fire and there has been not one obstacle that has been able to stop him, or slow him down.
In 2009 Joshua joined The Bridge Christian Creative Arts Center where he expanded his musical abilities in their in-house recording studio, Under My Feet Production. It wasn’t long before Joshua’s work ethics, talent, and abilities once again budded and quickly raised him to a leadership position. Later that same year, Joshua rose up to the challenge of overseeing and running Under My Feet Production alongside lifelong friend Esdras Charles.
Although Joshua enjoyed great success with Under My Feet Production, there still was a burning desire within him to do more. For the first time, Joshua gave a shot at rhyming. His first written song showed so much potential that he was greatly encouraged by Esdras Charles and others to explore this a little bit further. From there Joshua seemed to have exploded as a lyricist. In 2009 Joshua, who at the time went by the artist name J.Prez, and Esdras Charles (E.Charlez) joined forces along with Milo Bowens, and formed the group Young Boyz (YB). A Couple of months later, Milo Bowens separated from the group to pursue other interests. He was later replaced with Justin McCurdy. Through different distractions and difficulties, YB decided to split up, though they remained the best of comrades.
Facing some frustration, Joshua decided to take some time off from music to pursue a closer relationship with Christ Jesus. Through much prayer and patience, Joshua has returned to the scene wiser, stronger, and this time with a much clearer vision. He is now a solo artist who is backed by a team of producers, engineers, and leaders from all walks of life.
Joshua is so much more than just a Hip Hop artist, he wants to be known as a Christian who speaks from the heart. His music is not to be labeled as “Christian”, “wordly”, “emotional”, or whatever else label one would try to hold on him. He simply does music that touches your very soul. Through his music, God has changed the hearts and minds of men. He has inspired many other artists whom he has come in contact with. One listen to his work and you will quickly realize that Joshua cannot be categorized. He truly is in a league of his own.
