Can you say "Jamaica Mon"? Get ready to jam this Sunday as reggae lovers from all over Southern Ca. converge on the Indio Fairgrounds to "fed the beat" at Reggae Summer Fest 2000.
Featured performers including Eekomouse, Quino of Big Mountain, Revelation and Coachella Valley's own TRIBE-O, grace the stage at the Fullenwiner Building, located on the Indio Fairgrounds begining at 6p.m.
"I think it's going to be a great turnout," said Siah Nix, vocalist for TRIBE-O.
"We want people to come to hear the music. Our basic message is to unify all cultures through music," Nix explained. We need to get away from the materialistic things and get back to what is real."
Reggae Summer Fest 2000 is presented by Page Plus Music store aand Tecate and is being promoted aat locales such as Los Angeles, Arizona, San Deigo and Mexacali.
If TRIBE-O has anything to do with it, Reggae Summer Fest 2000 will provide good vibes to everyone in attendence.
"We hope to make this concert a positive experience that those in the audience can take home with them," added Nix.

Organizers of the Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival on Sunday announced winners of their local band showcase.
The event, the first of its kind at the fair, included a $500 prize every weekday at the fair.

Palm Springs may be the furthest place from Jamaica, but this weekend, two shows will bring classic reggae and Southern California reggae-infused music to the desert.
Reggae legend Eek-A-Mouse (with special guests TRIBE-O) will be playing the Old Prospector Night Club in Palm Desert on Sat. March 30, 2000, and later that night San Diego's classic club band Common Sense will take the stage at Muriel's Supper Club in Palm Springs. - Desert Weekly by Eric Olson
