"It was tough to decide and they can't all make it [on the album]", exclaims Tod, " 'Promises' is a fave, but it wasn't the vibe I wanted for this album". With punchy production paired with a rythmic flow from Tod.jAE, Promises delivers an "in-the-whip" vibe to listeners. In an overly saturated, cliche, run-of-the-mill kind of market, it's hard to sift through the music and music-makers. Every once and while, however, the music world is granted a cornerstone for ideas and inspiration-- be it from New York, Cali, Florida, Atlanta, or even Toronto. But who said you have to leave your own backyard? Intro to Tod.jAE-- new rap elite.
Representing North Carolina, by way of New York, Tod.jAE discovered his love for music real young. When he received a microphone and amp at the age of 5, Todd knew that he wanted to entertain. While attending high school in Anson County, NC, the then 16 year old kid discovered a talent in rap and freestyle. Alongside a group of friends, Tod.jAE became a rap artist.
Inspired by golden era MCs and driven by hustler's ambition, Tod.jAE encompasses the skill, originality and tenacity necessary to set new standards. Performing on stages with rap icons and working with a host of respected artists on the underground circuit has led to a more refined style. But what does his "style" entail? The answer-- everything that makes a real artist. Tod.jAE composes music based on interpersonal and relative situations; raw emotions and feelings, which positions him to be "relatable". Be assured, there is much promise in the forthcoming EP (yet titled) that will be packaged in 2016.
