The Wailin' Mahalias have been crowd please-rs for several years at our annual Senior Connections/Visiting Ministries fundraiser. There wasn't a toe not tapping at the Senior Varsity Luncheon they performed for at St. Luke's Church. Whether a large venue, private party or living room/bedroom of the home-bound they never fail to lift the spirits of all. Ellen Butkis

Christine Inserra and her Wailin’ Mahalias brought their joyful, toe tapping harmonies to our home one Christmas when our teenage daughter was recovering from a long illness. We invited close friends to her bedside, and the Mahalias' lively harmonies and warm presence lifted all our hearts. The Wailin’ Mahalias were great favorites at several fund raising concerts for Evanston Caring Ministries organized by First Presbyterian Church of Evanston's Friends in Christ and Reba Place Church's Senior Connections. The Wailin' Mahalias are dynamic! They performed for our recent successful holiday gathering, and were truly a delight to work with. They sensitively planned their musical selections for our setting and were collaborative at every level. They performed not only with musical excellence but with heartfelt appreciation for the occasion and its attendees.
We recommend them for your gathering without reservation.

Bio
This Chicago area band is know for its soulful vocal harmonies in traditional and fresh arrangements of folk, universal gospel and a little bit of blues.
Think: The Weavers, Joan Baez and Mahalia Jackson all wrapped in a fresh package with no expiration date! Great entertainment for all ages.
Most of the group had been singing together in the Lake Street Church of Evanston choir for years before they starting making their own music in 2007.
Guitar, bass and fiddle weave a fabric of sound for the womens vocals to shine though.
Through heartfelt lyrics and unstoppable rhythms, the Wailin Mahalias are sure to lift your spirits, touch your heart, set your fee a-tapping and your hands a-clapping.
Give a fresh listen to old classics (with many non-denominational lyric updates) and enjoy the music of the past in a brand new way.
See our sample program set list and hear short clips of many of our songs performed live.
We play for neighborhood festivals, private parties,
church services, fundraisers, senior centers and other Chicagoland venues.
