Bio
The Radio Fliers are a rock and roll band from Sonoma, California. Jesse Summers and Miles Hagin play guitar and sing words, Owen Barrett sits behind the drums, and Owen Summers plays the bass.
After Jesse Summers and Owen Barrett teamed up in the fifth grade to headline the Sonoma Charter School’s talent show in 2006, they went on hiatus to focus on Little League baseball and girls. Though they followed separate paths through adolescence into adulthood, they remained connected though their attachment to music. Together they fell in love with classic records such as the Who’s The Kid’s Are Alright and Led Zeppelin IV, as well as contemporary rock groups including Dr. Dog and Tame Impala.
Following high school, Jesse and Owen remained in contact, occasionally running into each other around town or at local concerts. From there, the two decided to team up again, jamming and songwriting in between shifts of summer jobs. Along with Miles Hagin, the Radio Fliers put a name to the project and released a three song demo on their Bandcamp webpage.
Since then, they have headlined at Gundlach Bundschu Winery in Sonoma and added Jesse's little brother, Owen, to the band. They have also self-produced and recorded their first EP, Dig the Fliers, which was released in March of 2016. With influences ranging from the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan to the Allah Las and Twin Peaks, the Radio Fliers bring back the spirit of the rock n' roll heyday when the rock was just as important as the roll.
