"...their energy, catchy vocals and harmonies are infectious. The easiest way describe their sound is a mix between Rockabilly and Soul....though The Perfect Children's lyrics are fun, they cannot be brushed aside as a secondary or superfluous way to engage the sound....diverse, serious about their craft but fun and approachable. You can catch their debut album this summer which was recorded at The Diamonds Building by Brian Olive."

It’s as if word of the sheer intensity witnessed at The Perfect Children’s live show has gone viral In just under 2 years, the band’s sonic stew of gospel, garage, blues, rock and even punk has created a buzz that’s leaving jaws open, rumps shakin’ and feet stompin’. With singer/songwriter Kristen Kreft (Pearlene/J. Dorsey Blues Revival) at the helm, the dynamic duo of Beth Harris(The Hiders/Pearlene/Owner and Operator of The Listing Loon) and Nicole Potter Borngrebe on backing vox, and the rhythm section inertia of Adam Shelton(RX2/Kallip) on drums and freshly-recruited bass player Victor Strunk (Magnolia Mountain/Me Or The Moon), the vocal velocity of this frenetic force will etch an impression that will last. They are something to behold.
The perfect Children are currently working on their first release with local jack-of-all-trades and Grammy winner Brian Olive. - Cincygroove.com
"The Perfect Children was formed by Cincinnati singer/songwriter/guitarist/keyboardist Kristen Kreft, whose years of experience singing is evident in her booming, soulful pipes. With drummer Adam Shelton providing the primal backbeat, The Perfect Children's songs are achingly raw and arranged sparingly, letting the from-the-gut vocals and melodies soar up front with an almost religious, Gospel ferver (especially when backing vocalists Beth Harris and Nicole Potter-Borngrebe wrap huge harmonies around Kreft's voice.) Recently adding bassist Victor Strunk to the lineup, The Perfect Children has increasingly become one of the more talked about original bands on the Greater Cincinnati club circuit. Working with the tools of American music originators in the fields of Blues, Folk, Soul and R&B, pure passion and pain drips from every note The Perfect Children plays, giving the band an air of authenticity that can't be taught or learned."

"The Perfect Children....featuring RX-2's Adam Shelton on drums, is led by natural-born soul singer, Kristen “KK” Kreft (formerly of the J. Dorsey Blues Revival), whose sweet and sassy voice channels both Nina Simone and Etta James." - Nate Rosing--Broken Mic
Do you like to be able to say "Oh, I saw one of that band's first shows!" to impress friends with your insider knowledge of the local music scene once that band builds up a nice draw? Then head to Northside Tavern tonight for a free concert headlined by slinky, sludgy local Rock & Roll machine Two Headed Dog and two brand new outfits with some familiar names and faces and a lot of potential.
First up is The Perfect Children, featuring phenomenal singer Kirsten Kreft (who said she formed the band after being inspired to write "a ton of music" after she left the J.Dorsey Blues Revival band), Mike Reeder from Blues/Rock powerhouse The Mudpies and drummer Adam Shelton, who bangs the skins for Progressive Jazz unit RX-2. (Kreft also handles guitar and keyboard duties and the band announced actress and singer Beth Harris will be sitting in with them tonight). The Children's sound is temptingly described as "Garage Soul" and "dirty AltCountry Blues Cabaret Rock." Friend 'em and check their Facebook page here.

Bio
The Perfect Children are the romp and stomp;the fresh wound of broken love;laughing in spite of pain. They are a girl with something to say and a boy to help deliver the message, cathartic but engaging.Their energy is infectious, the notes ring out and the space between is an emotional exhalation-personal but vague. They live at the intersection of Holly Golightly,Dex Romweber,Nina Simone,Al Green and Otis Redding. They play from the gut, heart, and soul and are rough, raw, and real. They will guilt trip you into getting outta your seats with their dirty showcase, further punctuated by 2 backing vocalists (Beth Harris of The Hiders/ Nicole Potter Borngrebe) who aid in lifting the stage off the floor and blowing the doors off the joint. They are joined by bass player Victor Strunk. To quote Little Richard, they will curl up under your big toe.
Kristen Kreft (guitar/electric piano/organ/vocals/songwriter) has an eclectic background in musical theater (Cincinnati Cabaret Toulouse Fleausaise among regional/off Broadway, and touring theater credits), backing soul vocalist (Pearlene, Cincinnati legend Kenny Smith), dirty blues band member (J.Dorsey Blues Revival),multi-genre vocal collaborator (floetry artist Abiyah, Cincinnati's darlin' Kelly Thomas and more), that gave her the chops to be a powerhouse front woman. Inspired by true greats such as Nina Simone, Etta James, Memphis Minnie, Little Ester, Odetta, as well as male greats Otis Redding, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, young Michael Jackson, and the list continues, she honed her vocal skills by tapping into pure soul, energy and emotion.
Drummer Adam Shelton has added his slant to an array of local music projects, including dissonant post-punk duo Barbary Coast, the backwoods hellbilly chaos of Luther The Geek, an extended tenure with instant-composers and Cincy mainstay Gordy Horn (also featuring James Brown trumpet legend Clayton Gunnels), and also currently with instrumental exploratory trio RX-2. The Perfect Children reignites a long-defunct musical relationship with Kristen in support of her majestic voice and commanding presence.
