Bio
The Nighttimes are 5 veterans of the NYC & Boston music scenes, now based in the Hudson Valley city of Beacon, NY where they joined forces in 2014 to create their own brand of heavy, psychedelic garage rock. Powerful, trippy tunes with just the right amount of snark and wit - blending the sounds of 60's psych & rock bands such as The 13th Floor Elevators, The Sonics and early Pink Floyd with more modern sounds inspired by Queens of The Stone Age, Ty Segall, and The Black Angels. To complement their growing catalog of original tunes, The Nighttimes repertoire includes a wide range of unexpected yet familiar covers delivered with the band’s own distinct attitude - songs by Van Halen, Genesis, Megadeth, Tears For Fears, and many more have received “The Nighttimes Treatment”.
Frontman Will Hoffman and guitarist Ryan Havers previously played together in Brooklyn-based Country Club & the Porn Horns, a riff-centric, horn-laced rock 'n' roll band that put out several releases and toured extensively throughout the early-aughts. Ryan also leads the experimental rock/psych band The Vontons; Will plays trumpet with New Orleans-style funk outfit Jellyroll Fats & the Zulu Kings and often plays with NJ rock band The Everymen on recordings and gigs. Guitarist/keyboardist Jonny Taylor has played bass & various other instruments with numerous NYC/Brooklyn bands, including electro-punk pioneers Vic Thrill and The Smiths tribute band The Sons & Heirs. Drummer Sergio Perez also anchors the rhythm section for current Brooklyn indie rock stalwarts Dirt Bikes. Bassist Dave Collins was part of Boston-based The Human Engine.
Their debut release is a limited run of blue/red 7" vinyl, which can be ordered at thenighttimes.bandcamp.com (purchase of the vinyl also includes digital download of the EP including 2 bonus songs). New for 2017 is the double A-side "Wake Up Dead". All releases are available on digital download/streaming sites such as Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, etc.
