The Gattsville Creeper is a project from Jersey City, New Jersey. The artist recently released Montauk Monster. This four-song EP felt like maybe two different artists trying to play into surf rock.
The album begins with “Beach Party” and this song is kind of ugly in a grunge and punk type of way. I thought the music sounded like a mix between grunge, punk and bedroom pop. The vocals have an affectation that is very punk based. I enjoyed the dichotomy of styles.
Up next is “Reason for the Season” and this is almost straight surf. Is this even the same singer? I’m not completely sure because the affectation and tonal qualities from the first song aren’t there. I liked both of the songs but it really did feel strikingly different.
The third track is almost a combination of the first two songs. There are vocals in this song which sort of revert but it’s really not as heavy. The music also melds some of the previous aesthetics. There is less distortion than on the first song but also more surf qualities that were overt on the second song.
The last song felt like the highlight to me. I really liked the music. It’s dark almost noir like spy thriller instead of surf. There is also a great build in the middle of the song along with some great percussive effects.
I liked how this EP came together. It makes more sense the more you listen. I have to admit that at first I was confused about the cohesive qualities but repeated listens helped make it click. Recommended. - Divide and Conquer

The Gattsville Creeper is an Indie Rock songwriter and performer. Drums, bass and voice make up the core of each track. Guitar and elements of acoustic guitar, synth and pure noise shape the tone of each song. The Gattsville Creeper wants to expose the audience to a dynamic listening experience ranging from noisy punk to acoustic and surf rock to dance.
