The Zoo Peculiar

Combining underground rock vibes with the sounds of circus tent, saloon, and sideshow, The Zoo Peculiar has carved out an important place in the American indie scene. Based in South Florida, the band has performed widely in the United States and abroad. Described as "circus music from outer space" and "gypsy polka punk," they continue to innovate by bending genres without losing the pop sensibility that makes their music strangely accessible, even at its most bizarre. Consisting of frontman Dr. Frank Lambshanks (vocals, keys), Furious Rod (bass, melodica), and Ryan J. Gatsby (percussion), The Zoo Peculiar brings an electric energy to their performances, which often involve elaborate balloon animals, carnival performers, and eccentric costumes. This zany energy translates into their music, which shifts from the quirky to the brooding without losing a signature whimsy. Part performance art, part indie rock act, the band has continued to push boundaries in their songs. Their new album is slated for release in 2016, and they recently released their live album from their recent European tour, Live from Dusseldorf.
