Before Drake became big enough to sign deals with Apple music, or Nasty C big enough to hold the city hostage with his "Bad Hair" album, they used to be artist without a significant fan base attempting what other may seem as the impossible. getting up to one hundred streams of a song possibly made within the confinement of their rooms/ cars and gaining likes, re-post or anything else that would reach anyone, used to be a distant goals for them. Providing a weekly outlet for those getting their feet wet in the sometimes brutal sport of Hip Hop, allow us to give readers a look into tomorrow's possibilities.
Intro
The Vo is a 3 piece rap group formed in Yakima, Washington in September of 2015 with current members Oliver Woodall, Derek Gibson, and Brison Dolezal, and former member(s) Jacob Luten. Stuck in the middle of Seattle and Portland, in a small town filled with crime, corruption (Time Magazine named Yakima the 2nd most terrifying city of which to live in 2014) and boredom for the younger generation, known more for harvesting fruit and grand theft auto than cultivating any type of music scene, “The Vo” was born. The name of the group came from member Oliver Woodall’s first car, a 1989 Volvo 240 DL (hence The “Vo”). The majority of the vocal tracks for the first Self-Titled EP released by the group were actually recorded in this particular car.
Inspiration For Career
The inspiration that created this group was the movie “Straight Outta Compton” (2015) when the members Derek Gibson, Oliver Woodall, and past member Jacob Luten were just 17 years old. The intensity of the film along with the rebellious nature of the basis of the film, the rap group N.W.A., sparked the abrupt beginnings of the group. Along with N.W.A, The Vo also has many other influences, including Dr. Dre, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Hopsin, Tyler, the Creator, Wu Tang Clan, The Beastie Boys and other genre splitting artists of which are influences in different ways, such as Nirvana, Tame Impala, Sublime, Weezer, James Brown, Parliament, Charles Mingus, along with countless others.
Do You guys Believe you have a shot at stardom?
Like stated in our bio, there’s nothing we’d rather be doing than making music and there is no doubt that we believe we have a shot at stardom.

1. Who are you?
We are The Vo. My name is Oliver Woodall, and I’m in this group with my friends Derek Gibson and Brison Dolezal.
2. What state are you from and what area do you rep?
We are from Washington State, and we represent Yakima (the 509).
3. Who are your biggest influences/inspirations?
Some of our major influences are Dr. Dre, Eminem, Hopsin, Kendrick Lamar, N.W.A., Wu Tang Clan, and countless others. We enjoy a multitude of different artists of all genres.
4. Why did you decide to make Hip-Hop music?
We’ve just always loved hip hop and the culture behind it, and we figured we could do it too. We’ve always been into music and art and the whole creative nature of these things and we thought we’d enjoy making something that we like and that people enjoy listening to.
5. What makes you different than every other artist ?
Our sound and our image. We have an incredibly diverse range of sounds and different genres of hip hop. It can be anything from experimental jazz vibes, to classic hip hop boom-bat sounds, to west coast hardcore rap, to catchy pop melodies. Our image is distinct is that we’re a Pacific Northwest dwelling group of three white kids, only about 150 miles away from Seattle, not exactly a place known for hip hop artists to thrive, but with a few exceptions.

The Vo is a 3 piece rap group formed in Yakima, Washington in September of 2015 with current members Oliver Woodall, Derek Gibson, and Brison Dolezal, and former member(s) Jacob Luten. The Vo specifically sounds like teenage angst poetically spat out of the ever so wandering minds of three kids from a struggling city, layered on top of everything from jazz influenced "story-time" instrumentals to abrasive kicks and snares that punch their way into the listener's ears.
Current member Brison Dolezal joined the band in late September of 2016 to replace Luten as the third member of the group, just as the group was beginning to work on their debut LP "Agenda 21".
When it comes down to it, there's nothing else we would rather be doing than not only making music, but making music our lives.
