The Poetry Assassins

The Poetry Assassins is a new 5-piece all-original rock band based out of Dayton, Washington. While the band is new, the players are not. Best described as a cross between early Elvis Costello, X, R.E.M., and the Foo Fighters, their music is completely original with multi-part harmonies and carefully crafted instrument interplay. Indie alternative rock and roll would be one way to pigeonhole a description and that falls somewhat short. It’s a wholly unique sound.

Toby Bailey, lead singer/songwriter who delivers like Jim Morrison on stage, has been the driving force behind Nature Boy Saints and Almost Blue, two Seattle-based bands that were hugely popular back in the early 2000’s. Larry Davidson, lead guitar/songwriter & manager has played with the likes of Elvin Bishop, Bill Frisell, Joe Strummer and Clarence Clemens as well as with countless bands throughout his life. Tammy Nelson, keyboards & backing vocals has been playing and singing in church all her life – we’re now corrupting her into a life of rock and roll and she’s having the time of her life. Thomas Thompson, Bass/backing vocals, is a fantastic multi-instrumentalist and a wine-maker to boot. Copper, drums/background vocals, is another multi-instrumentalist who brings a structure somewhere between rock, blues and jazz to create a unique backdrop to the soundscape.
