The Mark Schimick String Band

The Mark Schimick String Band is a group of hard-hitting multi-instrumentalists who combine originals and traditional bluegrass with choice covers composed in a jam-grass style.  They are known for their unique, high-energy sound, and for stretching the limits of their instruments and the bluegrass genre.  The band is comprised of nationally renown mandolin player, Mark Schimick, best known for his 12 year stint with Larry Keel & Natural Bridge, and his current role in The Josh Daniel/Mark Schimick Project; flat-picker, Morgan McNamara, guitarist for West Coast bluegrass bands, Jack Straw and The Pickups; bluegrass fiddler, Ryan Eversole, a Banjo Earth musician and formally of Sassagrass; and Upright Bassist, Greg Howell, currently playing with The Josh Daniel/Mark Schimick Project and formally with The Freight Hoppers and Sassagrass.  Playing together in different capacities for over 20 years, this project started not only as an ode to musical friendships, but also as an outlet to combine the love of various styles of music with masters of the craft.  The result is a a musical treat for both your ears and soul.  The driving beat keeps your feet moving, while the complex jams allow listeners to experience familiar songs in a new way.  The band closed out 2016 with the release of their first album, Menagerie, at a CD release show with Peter Rowan. These old friends are excited to take their new project on the road in 2017.
