With a bona fide musical pedigree, The Justus Brothers have individually been an integral part of the Memphis scene for over three decades. Their credits run the gamut from Booker T to ZZ Top, Solomon Burke to Neil Young, Little Milton to Mavis Staples, Al Green to Isaac Hayes…and the beat goes on! Their emergence on Memphis recordings has been a training ground for the spirited combination of soul, gospel and grooves that define this genre.
On the self-titled debut, this quintet ... refine a hybrid of soul and Contemporary jazz with verve and polish.
The band is fiercely cohesive. The Justus Brothers have arrived in style! - Audiophile Audition
The debut album from The Justus Brothers came out and suddenly the world was a better place.
For this 9-track CD from the all-star group of stellar Memphis musicians who have joined together to explore new horizons in contemporary jazz is, quite easily, one of the most uplifting and colorful new releases I've personally heard in the past few years.
The new album from Memphis International Records underscores the unparalleled musicianship of the group that includes Niko Lyras (guitar), Pat Register (sax), Jason Clark (keyboards), Steve Potts (drums) and Dave Smith (bass). - Exclusive Magazine
From infectious funky melodies to elegant and silky smooth, this album is filled with world-class instrumental emotion. Check out their fresh treatment of Booker T's "Chinese Checkers" or the classy arrangement of two Sting classics "Fragile/Fields of Gold," and you will know immediately that the Justus Brothers are in a league of their own. - ProperMusic.com
