The support bands chosen for this special show were selected by The Getbye for a number of reasons. “We were looking for bands that can make the crowd dance,” said Mitchell Gershon. “We wanted a variety of indie genres and that is what we got.”
The band, together for three years, has music available on iTunes. Their music is described as indie folk/gypsy rock, or as they like to call in gypsy love. “The guys combine their individual unique sounds together to make The Getbye. It’s an organic natural effect when the four of them all plug in.”
“The guys make music on every day life,” said Gershon. “Kyle writes most the lyrics. His songs are about all kinds of things, from falling in love to the hobo Stevie who they let live in their backyard for a number of years. The cool part about Kyle is he has a new song written every other week. As far as inspiration as a band though, the guys all believe in the same thing - spreading their gypsy music through the ears of those who want to listen.” - Kat Coffin
When it comes to stage presence and energy, the guys from The Getbye pretty much have the bases covered. These three unique, quirky characters bring their individual talents and personalities together and when they hit the stage, you automatically become immersed in their world of indie, folk, and a little something called gypsy rock, for a lively one-of-a-kind spectacle. Originated and currently residing in Orlando, FL, band members Kyle Smith, Alex Taylor and David Pendry (aka Koal, Skitch and Davy) formed circa 2009 and have been crushing dance floors at local shows and festivals in Central Florida and the surroundings areas since, and they are sure to bring the Florida heat all the way to the Midwest for Backwoods. Catch The Getbye on The Globe stage 7:45-8:30PM Saturday, September 5th. - Connor Lavin

Bio
"Hey, Hey Oh" is what crowds frequently chant as they clap their hands to this Gypsy band. Made up of Koal, Davy, Skitch and Tucker, The Getbye is quickly becoming one of the most talked about groups in their native Orlando, Florida. From one man simultaneously playing accordions, drums and trumpets at the same time, to the others filling on bongos, bass and guitar, The Getbye is certainly a spectacle to be seen, and one that's hard to miss. Their whirlwind of sound, and love, has carried them from The Florida Music Festival, Westward to Backwoods Music Fest, and North to Indiana's Good People Good Times Festival along with a host of other gypsy forest fests. Our gypsy sound has played along side artist such as Porter Robinson, Lettuce, The Floozies, Papadosio, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Odeza, Erykah Badu, Ms MR, Supervillians, Keller Williams, HoundMouth, Dr. Dog, Infected Mushroom and Less than Jake. The Getbye makes their audience the fifth member of the band through clapping, chanting and by even passing around their own percussive instruments, the shows are just as much a party as they are a performance. It's music, it's peace and a little something they like to call "Gypsy Love".
