A future primitive blend of rhythms layered under indigenous inspired chants creating a soundscape designed to move the people.
Seasoned multi-percussionist Jamie Papish and Kevin Fraser, reggae/rock singer/songwriter/percussionist met in Topanga Canyon where they both resided, just before the lockdown in March 2020. They shared a vision of moving the people by layering simple chants, infectious rhythms and melodic motif's from many cultures to lift peoples spirits. Feeling they needed the feminine balance of vocals and energy, they recruited long time friends and singers, Dawn Marie Yurkovic and Renette Johnson. This birthed a fusion of sound with the idea of transcending the current climate of societal uncertainty. Since then, The Chants have been working on their first album of original material featuring the talents of top singers and musicians from around the world.
