Bio
Formed in 1982 at Wheeling College in West Virginia, the Ashcats began as a rock & roll cover band. They continued for years playing in West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland & New Jersey.
As most bands do, the Ashcats parted ways for a few years and re-grouped in the late 2000s to play a reunion gig at the college. Now more refined than ever, the band played amazingly and the gig was a smash hit. This led to more bookings here and there over the next few years, but they were left without a lead singer that could commit due to other obligations.
Now, finally, the band has a solid lead vocalist in Cargo. Formerly with Cargo & The Heavy Lifters out of the DC area, he brings vocal style, stage presence and professionalism that is second to none. Think Otis Redding mixed with Mick Jagger.
The band is released its first album, Give It to Get It, in April 2021. Recorded at Lion & Fox studios in the DC area in October 2021 with legendary producer Jim Fox, the album contains funky, soulful blues & rock covers, as well as several originals.
