Bio
Sweet Pill is the fast and fun band your sweet tooth has been craving. With driving rhythms, complex guitar melodies and catchy lyrics, this new band is redefining a dying rock genre.
Formed in November of 2018 by four Rowan University students, their debut show with Slaughter Beach, Dog (Jake Ewald from Modern Baseball) was just the start of a handful of shows across the tristate area.
Front woman and bassist Zayna Youssef is incredibly talented with getting the crowd’s attention while simultaneously putting on a stellar performance. Lead guitarist Jayce Williams writes the music for Sweet Pill, but when presented to the group, the music has evolved into something bigger and better. Drummer Stephen Kummer is responsible for the band’s high energy set while being the glue that keeps the band together, plus the ghost notes are real tasty. Rhythm guitarist Ian Bley writes second guitar parts that compliment every riff, rhythm and lyric. Ian also took the lead on producing their debut album which comes out on April 5th.
Sweet Pill is influenced by groups like Paramore, Algernon Cadwallader and Tommy Cash. Their first single “Doubt” is out now on the streaming platforms Apple Music and Spotify as well as Bandcamp. They just played SXSW in Austin, TX this month, and you can catch them at their album release show at 4333 with Spirit of the Beehive and Have a Good Season on April 5th.
