Sunday at Noon have a raucous new single and video titled "Brain Damage" hitting the streets with a swagger, effectively placing their sound on the headbanging side of alternative-rock with conviction. Jack VanDerPol says, "We've seen a lot of changes in the past three months. We got a new bass player, signed with a label, recorded a single and a video, designed new merch and are getting to headline at the Rebel Lounge. I just can't wait to put all of this positive energy out on the stage and see how people respond."

This is also an EP release show for the Sink of Swim, whose "High Tides EP" has been in the works since the release of their previous EP. "In the midst of all the shows we were playing, we tried writing as much as we could while still practicing originals off of the 'Fish Out of Water EP,'" says bassist Niel Erlich. "High Tides" is their first release since adding Derek Rossman on guitar and keys after jamming together in Ohio, which inspired him to move here.

"We're practicing and writing new material constantly," Erlich says, "always trying to make better tunes for the world to hear. We're very excited to play new songs, improvements to our old ones, and rock the stage with multi-instrumentalist Derek Rossman. All the bands have so much talent and this release show is going to be a hell of a time."

Sunday At Noon
Sunday At Noon put out one of the best EPs of 2015 with their Burning Pictures EP and followed up with a stunning single for "Brain Damage" last year. Since that time they've been getting down and dirty in the studio recording their follow up at SoundVision Recording with Michael Beck. This is one release that everyone should be stoked about for 2017, because this band has some of the best rock energy I've experienced in ages. "Brain Damage" took them to new, harder-edged territory, and I can't wait to hear what their next record has in store. It also looks like they're taking the bull by the horns this year and they will be throwing a lot of shows starting this month supporting Never Let This Go at the latter band's CD release party with Something Like December. Sunday At Noon emerged on the scene in late 2015 with possibly the greatest underage debut EP of that year.

With a sound characterized by an adherence to rock ’n’ roll, with hints of grunge and metal persuasions, Sunday At Noon comes on with a vital urgency in every riff. Last year, they released their best single to date with “Brain Damage,” and it was evident that these young rock ’n’ rollers were laying the foundation for the sound of their next record. The year 2017 promises to be a great year for this band, with releases in store and a ton of opportunities awaiting.

“One of the most exciting things we have coming up very soon is the release of the first single off our new EP,” lead singer Jack Vanderpol says. “We recorded a solid record with Michael Beck of SoundVision Recording Studios, and will be releasing it in early spring.”


The band also promises more live performances and bigger shows than ever before.

“This year, we are focusing on releasing new music and playing live in front of as many people as possible,” Vanderpol says.

In addition to hitting venues throughout Phoenix and Flagstaff, they are planning on hitting the road and meeting up with fans from across the country, including a trip to Austin, Texas, in March and the Midwest in late spring.

"Brain Damage" rocks harder than anything Sunday At Noon have done before, but in a way that suggests they may have been checking out some classic records by Van Halen, AC/DC, and maybe GN'R — a welcome addiction to their existing sound. This is just great rock 'n' roll with a touch of metal to it, filled with riffs, howls, and screams — every second of it is a primal joy. It will be interesting to watch where this band goes. They could move just as comfortably into Stone Temple Pilots territory as they could into a Van Halen trajectory, or maybe some synthesis of both. If Mike Judge made Office Space into a music video for a band that kind of sounds like Queens of the Stone Age, it might look like Jacob Reynolds' video for Sunday At Noon's song "Brain Damage." The video begins with a boss slapping a pile of folders on a beleaguered employee's desk, upping the workload so that he can make it to his "successful supervisor seminar" unimpeded. The supervisor plays mean pranks on his employees, and they get him back by sneaking in and throwing a concert at work. It's a ridiculous concept and very light-hearted in execution, yet very effective. - Phoenix New Times

Jack VanDerPol's vocal presence is the perfect vehicle to put across the blend of odd-school hard-rock swagger and modern commercial-alternative urgency these Phoenix rockers have arrived at on their new self-titled EP, drawing as much on Led Zeppelin as Queens of the Stone Age and Foo Fighters. And they knew enough to crash the gate with the reckless abandon of a cowboy-rocking opener called "Autumn Moon" because that's where they went to lunch while they were working on the album.

As VanDerPol explains: “We came in to the studio with a bunch of songs that we’d been working on for a while. We wanted to push our own boundaries and develop a more mature sound but we’ve also developed a reputation for the amount of raw emotion we put into our music, especially at live shows. Our producer, Michael Beck, really wanted a track that would tie into our previous single 'Brain Damage.' I had only played the riff that became 'Autumn Moon' once at a bar show. The track was written and recorded in a few short hours in the studio that day. We ended up naming the song after the Chinese restaurant where we’d go to lunch or dinner with Beck during breaks on studio days.”

One day in late 2015, Chelsey Louise of Fairy Bones asked me if I had ever heard of Sunday At Noon, and I hadn’t. Within about 20 minutes I had digested their Burning Pictures EP completely and couldn’t stop playing “Maybe I’ll Regret It.” I’ve been following every move they’ve made since then.

Sunday At Noon is Jack Vanderpol, Nate Vanderpol, Anthony Airdo and Dylan Welker, and they are one of the fastest-rising rock bands around town right now. Their eponymously titled sophomore EP is pure rave-up rock ’n’ roll with a vital energy. They cross sub-genres of rock, veering here and there to grunge, with hints of metal and a solid songwriting sensibility that keeps you completely engaged. In two years they’ve gone from a band on my radar to one of my favorites. This feeling was confirmed when they released the first single from the record, “Brain Damage,” and cemented up the recent release of “Like the Last Time.” Those singles were fantastic, but the opener of “Autumn Moon” burns bright with just the right amount of danger.

Following it up with the mid-tempo “Like the Last Time” was great sequencing, giving an adequate transition into “Till the Sun Comes Up,” which revs slowly into a tune designed for a reckless desert drive in the middle of the night. The shining guitar intro to “Bright Light” reveals a pop sensibility with harmonies to boot. “Love the World” is another mid-tempo tune that gets some funk in the trunk, adding even more depth to this young band’s oeuvre. The one-two punch of “Sister” and “Brain Damage” at the end of the record will keep fans everywhere in thrall to Jack Vanderpol’s vocals. - JAVA Magazine

"Like The Last Time"
Sunday At Noon are set to release their eponymously titled second EP on April 21, and they've just released the second preview single, titled "Like The Last Time." Following last year's stunner "Brain Damage," it's of particular note that the new single sounds nothing like it. While there is certainly still a glam rock fascination in the guitar alone, this is Sunday At Noon showing off their chops with a mid-tempo alt-rocker. Far from the bombast of "Brain Damage," this is more inviting, more affable, and it resurfaces the pop aesthetic that was all over their debut record in 2015. It has the sound of a band coming into its own and defining its style. It's also catchy as hell. Now, nearly everything released by Sunday At Noon has been, but this track has extra heart to it. And that's big for such a young band. Only a few years on and you can already hear their work maturing.
