Bio
Originally from Halifax, now residing in Toronto, Sticks - The Mashup Drummer is a one-man self-produced show that encompasses a unique blend of percussion and sample-based mashups to create a pulsating, one-of-a-kind live show. He creatively blends elements of rock, hip-hop, pop, and EDM with the percussion all composed by Sticks himself.
For over twenty years, Sticks has been playing, performing and exploring different styles of music - one sweaty show at a time. Establishing himself as both a technical player and versatile entertainer, he began his career as a pipe band drummer. Competing at the highest level, he participated in 3 World Pipe Band Championships and won the North American and Canadian Pipe Band Championships (best drum corps) in 2004. Having worked with artists such as Classified, Kayo, Ria Mae, and Symphony Nova Scotia, Sticks has built his reputation as not only a powerhouse percussionist, but also a budding producer.
In 2009, Sticks combined his percussion and production talents to develop his one-man mashup/percussion show - “Sticks The Mashup Drummer”. Playing in colleges, festivals, clubs and arenas, he has opened for acts such as Steve Aoki, Skratch Bastid, DJ Grandtheft, The Black Eyed Peas, Scratch Skratch Scratch, Rich Aucoin, and Girl Talk. He has also worked with established brands such as Redbull, Molson Coors, Bud Light Platinum, HB Studios and appeared at the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010.
With his 2016 release of the Mum’s Drums Mixtape, Sticks continues to push the boundaries musically, searching for new ways to blend multiple genres and live performance. His high energy allows him to connect with the audience which creates a spectacle that must be seen to be believed! Follow him on social media and look out for him to bring the mashup experience to a city near near you!
