Meet Standoff

"One of the most promising young garage-rock acts I’ve heard in quite some time hails from the Castro Valley/Livermore area.

The group goes by the name Standoff and, trust me, you’re going to want to hear them.

Standoff boasts a highly contagious single called “We Won't Get Along,” which is a guitar-fueled adrenaline rush that you’ll want to experience again and again.

The song was recorded with producer Diego Cisternas at C Studio in Oakland.

You can find that song and some other cool offerings at

Recommended for fans of the Strokes and (early) White Stripes." - The Mercury News/ By: Jim Harrington

First Festival: Weekend Warrior Challenge

Sunday, May 7th
5:15 pm: As I descend the stairs of The Porch, I hear some heavy-gauge shrieking coming from the main stage and stumble into the middle of Standoff’s set. I’ll be upfront and say it. Lead singer Charli Lockheart was what caught my attention off the bat. Decked out in all black, with flipped over hair that was reminiscent of The Cure, this guy was wailing away in a very Jack White/Wolfmother way. Like he was trying to out-do all other singer like him. And he was succeeding. Backed by Mitch Avery on keys, Julius Ceasar on lead guitar, Dallas Winfield on bass, and Grey Janowski on drums, these dude threw down their own blend of Black Keys and Black Sabbath-ish blues rock that was a sight for sore eyes. - Stefan Adcock Blog

The ragtag garage outfit, Standoff, formed back in late 2013 as a haphazard rock band of high school kids. Since then, they’ve carved out their identity trekking around the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond, blasting rackety surf punk and dirty blues to anybody within earshot. Wailing vocals accompany a combo of gritty and chiming guitars with a defining heartbeat of bass and drums. The product is a versatile sound characteristic only to a tight-knit group comprised of fiery individualists dead set on hard hitting melter noise to fill out long, fucked-up nights.

They recorded their first independent EP, “Not So Easy” in 2015. They have recorded a 3 song album demo EP as a preview to the album they plan to release in 2019. Their newest single "We Won't Get Along", released April 2018, has been well received with radio play in the US and internationally.

Charli writes the melody and lyrics composing the “bones” of the songs, while the band collaborates on the work and adds the “flesh” to the sound. More recently the lead guitarist, Julius has produced a few songs for the band as well. Together they create music that can bring you back to the era of garage rock with a influence of surf punk and blues rock.
