Bio
Formed by Jack Sperry, Connor Van Wagoner, and Connor Stephens in their filmmaking class at Skyline High School in 2015 in Salt Lake City, Utah, Social Conduct has always had the intention of creating music that will give the listener a deeper experience. A group of like-minded students, they began their musical journey in Sperry’s basement a few months after meeting.
Their first experience in songwriting began with making a simple “Thank You Song” for their film class. They immediately thereafter started writing music that they hoped people would not only listen to, but “feel.”
They operated without drums for several months, experimenting with different drummers along the way. In the late spring of 2016, the final piece of the puzzle was filled with Grace Hoffman on the kit who brought a unique, fill-heavy drum style, as well as great chemistry to the group.
Social Conduct sought to write songs with a diverse approach, experimenting with Jazz-influenced chord shapes, foreign tunings, and a variety of lyrical themes. Their music can be described as adventurous, deep, and evocative. One can easily indulge themselves into the mid-tempo, ambitious alternative-rock, brimming with warm and melodic bass lines, delicately crafted guitar arrangements, dynamic drumming, and emotional vocals. Music to them is much more than just a beat to be listened to in the background of life (although their catchier songs stick in one’s head quite vehemently). This is music to be heard watching the sun set over distant mountains, stargazing with one’s significant other under a clear night sky, or from a skyscraper far above the distant city lights. Their music demands to be felt by the listener.
