What's so good?
By Zach Connett | Feb 14, 2014
Detroit recording artist Slap Nevada, formerly known as Tree Ave, recently went through a name change as a symbol of his individuality and belief in personal freedom. Righteous.
The 21-year-old producer/rapper experienced some solid exposure in 2013 with his debut Don Juan Demarco. His latest project, Ricky James, has stronger production value and shows that he’s, for now, committed to his sound and artistic movement. The progression is occurring, as we can hear on the extremely wavy “Dreamcatcher,” which has a very low-key, West Coast hip-hop vibe to it. This is odd, considering Slap hails from Detroit, but you won’t find me upset about this conundrum. The track bumps, and the EP features six fully mastered songs in total, all written and produced by Mr. Tristan Mims (aka Slap Nevada) himself. - IndieShuffle.com

“S.U.O. (Something Unheard Of)” is the latest single to be released by the young and trippy Detroit native Tree Ave.
We featured this independent artist in June, and he’s back with more of the same: a Motor City flow and unique artistic style that makes for a compelling product. Like last time, Tree Ave provides some sweet visuals to coincide with the song.
Also known as the Don Juan Demarco, he’s very transparent to the public about the passion he has for being a (relatively unknown) rapper. His SoundCloud profile confirms that he’s in this for the love, and not much else: “The rap game is my love, my only goal is to make her proud. Producing tracks that the world can relate to is my only goal.”

If you’re in the mood for something trippy, then Detroit artist Tree Ave has what you’re looking for.
His single “One Eight Hundred,” a track featured on his debut Don Juan Demarco EP, has a chill, swaggy, drugged out vibe. I’m not necessarily loving this entire project, but felt the song and visuals brought to us by these young artists from East Lansing, MI was absolutely worth the post.
Check out Tree Ave in the “One Eight Hundred” video below, where he raps in front of an interesting backdrop of Detroit and East Lansing scenery through some extremely trippy edits. - IndieShuffle.com
