New York City based shoegaze duo, Slap Bracelets, is comprised of Debbie Chou (vocals/bass/ keys) and Chris Gersbeck (vocals/guitars/bass/programming). The band has the ability to be both sweet and dreamy (listen to “The Wendigo”), but can also put on the edge to a more raucous classic punk sound. Expect a mix of Depeche Mode, Lower Dens, and Haim, and you are good to go. - BuffaBlog

Bio
Slap Bracelets is the brainchild of Debbie Chou and Chris Gersbeck, both formerly of NYC psychedelic rock band The Barrens. Initially envisioned as a recording project that would uniquely re-imagine songs by bands like The Cure and Depeche Mode, the duo eventually began collaborating on each others songs, culminating in their first original composition "Trade My Machete."
Following the breakup of the Barrens, Chou and Gersbeck revisited their work and decided to turn Slap Bracelets into a full time band. In April 2014, the band played their debut show as a live trio featuring Travis Hunter on bass to a packed crowd at Bar Matchless in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. In September of 2014, the band began gigging on a regular basis in the NYC area, playing renowned venues such as Lit Lounge, Muchmore's and Union Pool.
The band has since released a single entitled "The Wendigo," a song inspired by a folklore tale of the same name, and plan to release a four song EP entitled The Wendigo this fall.
