SkyDaddy is a modern fusion of funk and jazz who are up-and-coming in the Northeast festival scene. Their jams sound a bit like the Grateful Dead but with different vocals and added saxophone. Comparatively, their lyrics and vocals can be compared to Twiddle, a band that has been very popular in the festival circuit. Catching these guys at a speakeasy in NYC would be quite the treat before they start popping up on outdoor festivals in Summer 2017. Bio
SkyDaddy is a funky, soulful rock/jam band based in NYC and its tri-state area -- and also performs its material as an acoustic duo when appropriate. With catchy hooks, memorable messaging and a knack for improvisation, SkyDaddy is bridging the gap between mainstream audiences and the northeast festival circuit. The roots of SkyDaddy formed in 2004 at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY, where songwriters Tom Clancey and Dave Heinz met over an impromptu jam session of “Rapper’s Delight.” Tom and Dave worked together on various musical projects over the next decade, eventually evolving into SkyDaddy in 2014 with the addition of Joe North (sax/EWI, School of the Arts, Philadelphia) and Pat Agresta (drums, New School, Brooklyn). The band released its debut self-titled EP on Spotify and iTunes in April 2015. Its first single, Just Enough Wine, has captured attention in the northeast from audiences, who are already singing along at live shows.
