“I posted this video because I love the message. Everyone is rapping, singing and has the attitude that getting wasted is such a great thing. Especially, like Ms. Briggs pointed out, the growing popularity of Molly. One of my artists just did a walk through at Perry’s High School Homecoming Dance a few days ago. Later that evening, teens from that same dance got behind the wheel of a car and now two are dead, one in critical condition. I love that Ms. Briggs is trying to be a good role model and convey a great message about the ugly side of drugs and alcohol in excess.” - Rep Pittsburgh Hip Hop
During July, Vintage is hosting and partnering with three different musical artists from New Orleans to hear how God is using them and their music. Our third, and final, artist is Shay Briggs. - Vintage Church
Reaching Higher PR presents Pittsburgh hip-hop artist @ShayBriggs3 new video and single, “Heavily Medicated“. The music is produced by Loyola University of New Orleans collaborator @Ant_Stew and is the first single from her debut album “Interphase“.
The song’s concept takes you on a journey with a girl who experiments with drugs and the not so glamorous consequences she faces. RepPittsburghHipHop.com says, “I love that Ms. Briggs is trying to be a good role model and convey a great message about the ugly side of drugs and alcohol in excess.”
Shay Briggs recently moved to New Orleans a few short years ago to pursue her studies, as well as a career in the music industry. She has performed at Crescent City venues such as Hi-Ho Lounge, The Republic and House of Blues with hip-hop acts like Lyriqs da Lyraciss and Black Milk. - Middle Tennessee Music

Bio
Growing up in a small town right outside of Pittsburgh, PA the closest Shay got to hip-hop was Kirk Franklin and The Winans Phase II. Having parents who didn’t favor mainstream music, Shay always thought if she couldn’t listen to the music the cool kids listened to she’d just make her own.
Years later she found herself performing in venues all over New Orleans, where she had moved to attend Loyola University. Sharing the stage with artists such as Nappy Roots, 3D Natee, Black Milk, and Mickey Factz she started cultivating her skill for performing live, and developed a buzz in the New Orleans underground Hip-Hop scene after she released her debut EP "Heavily Medicated". The song tells the story of a young woman who discovers the consequences of untamed party life.
Shortly after the "Heavily Medicated" release, Shay's cousin was murdered, causing her to rethink her plan and desire for her music. “I went through this weird time where I couldn’t write, I had no desire to perform, and I was so mad at God for what happened. I not only felt like I couldn't move forward with my music, but I didn’t feel like I was suppose to.”
Remerging with a different attitude, a deeper resilience, and a new sound, Shay is ready to take this journey head on. “I always wanted to use any platform that I had in a meaningful and positive way, but I no longer feel satisfied just being positive or conscious, I need to talk about what God has done in my life.”
Now gearing up for the release of her EP ATLAS (October 1), Shay is excited to introduce herself and share her new sound with the world.
