The title track, After the Winter, is full of hope and acknowledges that we have to go through these dark and challenging times in our lives, and that we can’t become who we’re meant to become if we don’t go through them. There are deep blessings in that darkness. We are allowed to let go to make space for new feelings. “Just like the tree has to release its leaves, it has to let something die so that it can continue to cycle life through and birth its next leaves,” she said. “We have to do that, we get to do that. We can’t blossom with new flowers if we keep holding onto all the flowers we’ve ever had. We have to let them drop, to become compost for our soil so we can birth the next flowers, so we embrace whatever is new and next for our lives and journeys.” - San Lorenzo Post

Sarah Songbird is a singer and songwriter based in Santa Cruz, California. Her music honors the beautiful multidimensionality of the human experience and invites her listeners to feel right along with her. Sarah draws inspiration from both her inner and outer landscapes - spinning lyrical metaphors that point to the parallels between the cycles of nature and life. Her music is a fusion of styles influenced by sounds from around the world and is infused with meaningful messages to guide, soothe, and inspire.
Sarah Songbird taps in and liberates through sound a full spectrum of emotional frequencies, from discomfort to celebration, often settling in a space of profound hope. Sarah feels that she is a vessel for music to express itself, speaking often of how the songs “come through her” - vibration and poetry she receives to open doors for personal and collective healing. Through her songs, she lifts her voice in praise and remembrance of simple and eternal truths.
Sarah's love of music has spanned her lifetime. She began performing in musical theater productions as a youth and later discovered a deep connection to music as an essential aspect of her spiritual and personal growth paths. As she connected with her voice in times of trials and rejoicing, she discovered her gifts as a songwriter, with songs beginning to pour in and through her in 2016.
She continues to cultivate her relationship to her own sound and strengthen her knowing of the power of music to be a conduit for healing. Her wish is that her music be a blessing that ripples out and touches hearts, cracking open the floodgates of Sacred Grief and Love.
Sarah Songbird is excited to share her debut album of original music, After the Winter, slated to be released February 2, 2022. The album is a compilation of six originals songs embellished with multi-instrumental and vocal layers. With sounds from around the world, her EP takes its listeners on an emotional journey of hope with multicultural coloration woven throughout.
