If we were to compile a list of bands that we thought were going to breakthrough into the mainstream soon, Robby Hunter Band would be near the top of that list. With a penchant for making pop-accessible tunes yet maintaining that creative & funky edge, RHB are priming themselves for big things.
Today the band is releasing their debut album, Magic City Hippies, for free download as they pay homage to all their new fans who have given them such an early boost. The album will be available for free download until Sunday at midnight, so hurry up and grab this before it goes on sale if the money is tight.
Expect to see these guys on the radio and touring a city near you very soon. Our additional highlights are below. - HillDilly.com

The self-proclaimed "Indie-Funk" artists of the Robby Hunter Band have definitely earned their title to the uncommon genre they identify themselves with. Combining a seductive bass guitar line, heavy hitting synths, a sprinkling piano, and simple real and electronic drum beats to make a sound that’s as refreshing as it is funky to our ears, “BUST ”nails the “summer track” category on the head. A straight-forward hook and raspy vocals turn up the heat, making us feel groovy, grown, and sensual, while a short yet jarring guitar solo near the end of the track leaves us with a climax full of feeling. “BUST,” a last-minute-made single, was not originally planned to be on RHB's upcoming album, Magic City Hippies, but ended up being a tune the band felt they needed to include on the record and drop, before their new album was even released. And boy are we glad they did.
Despite realistic lyrics that describe a heartsick place where we’ve all no doubt been, left with the pang of unrequited emotions and the infidelity of a lover, “BUST” forces us to picture ourselves on a beach during sunset, drinking a corona and surrounded by good friends, while we sway our hips to the easy-going flow of the track---and start the healing process.
The Robby Hunter Band drops their new album, Magic City Hippies, this Friday, July 19th. If you’re looking for some more sexy and well-produced Indie-Funk hybrid tunes, we recommend you go out and get it. Lucky for you, the Robby Hunter Band is making their entire album for free download all weekend long at MagicCityHippies.com - Earmilk.com
Robby Hunter Band is a trio (Robby, guitar and vocals; Pat Howard, drums; John Coughlin, bass) from Miami that blends hip-hop and funk stylings into an indie rock context. The resulting songs (so far just “Hard on Me” and “Corazón”) are the musical equivalent of a perfect day at the beach: friends, ice cold beverages, sun, sand, volleyball, and an ocean of endless possibilites–wait I’m not done–and at night, a campfire, tents, s’mores, a few more ice cold beverages, fireflies, a clear night sky of endless possibilities, and music. This music. Check it out.
P.S.: “Corazón” sounds a lot like a L’Homme Run track.* - http://sunsetintherearview.com

On their debut album Magic City Hippies, Robby Hunter Band proves once and for all that they are their own mixed drink, blending parts blues, parts funk, and parts hip-hop into one sun-kissed, beach-ready concoction. Download the Miami guys’ album for free while you can (until midnight on Sunday)! Or “donate” a few bucks so the guys can keep providing the drinks. - http://sunsetintherearview.com

I was a little surprised to see Miami’s Robby Hunter Band releasing new material on a Friday, considering I rarely come across anything new during the weekend. Nonetheless I will review the hell out of their debut single, “Hard On Me.”
The band describes this track as:
“…a dancey dollop of doo-wop that merges Motown pop appeal with Phoenix-y fatness, all the while taking on the timeless subject of sexual frustration. Relieve your auditory boules bleues with a jam that your grandma can get down to.”
That sums up the song quite nicely. I would say that they have a very Chromeo-like sound, minus the electronic elements, combined with some of Breakbot’s soulful beats.
These guys literally joined Facebook about a week ago, and performed at Austin’s SXSW showcase this past weekend — talk about being thrown into the deep end! - http://www.indieshuffle.com

Robby Hunter Band has built an audience with singles “Hard On Me” and “Treat You Right (Ft. GhostWridah).” The Miami based band released their debut album, Magic City Hippies on July 19, 2013, and I’m loving it.
Single “Bust” is fits right in line with their indie funk style, showcasing the band’s amazing guitar play, well-paced drumming, and Robby Hunter’s soft vocals.
Magic City Hippies is available for free download all weekend, so you’ll want to grab it here. You can also stream it on SoundCloud. Also, if you’re in the Miami Area, join Robby Hunter Band on July 19 at Barracuda Bar for the album release party! - http://www.indieshuffle.com

Miami’s Robby Hunter Band are covering all the angles right out the gate. First they had the initial hits of “Corazon” & “Hard On Me” that made the heads turn with their undeniably catchy sound. Then it was the super-smooth r&b tinged “Treat You Right” that got everybody completely hooked.
Now to finish off the trifecta of adoration, the band has dropped their 4th and final track, “BUST”, before their debut, Magic City Hippies, drops on July 19th.
Check it out below, it’s another winner. - http://www.hillydilly.com

If you’re listening to the tracks already, you won’t find it hard to believe that the Robby Hunter Band is based out of the sunny beaches of Miami. The music exudes the same happy warmth that I’m sure is extremely pervasive around Miami beaches. The happiness is positively infectious in these tunes and I think you actually receive your daily dose of vitamin D just by listening to his sunny jams. Hop in the Robby Hunter Band bandwagon early by trackin him on his social media outlets linked above. - http://www.hillydilly.com

Back to prove there are no plans to just drop 2 great tracks (“Corazon” & “Hard On Me”) and disappear, is Miami’s on the come-up group, Robby Hunter Band. ”Treat You Right” is the band’s newest track that further proves these guys are well on their way to reaching more ears. We are talking radio time, talk-show host slots, you name it. With the kind of sound these guys possess you don’t need a crystal ball to figure it out.
On “Treat You Right”, lead vocalist, Robby Hunter, croons over catchy guitar licks and knocking hip-hop percussion whilst rapper GhostWridah fills in the gaps. The pop-sensibilities are abundant and completely obvious here, so like we said expect these guys to blow up very soon. Their debut album will be released on July 19th. For now let ”Treat You Right” hold you over till then. - http://www.hillydilly.com

What the Fuck ever happened to G. Love and his Special Sauce?
HE HAD KIDS BRO.
Seriously this video from Robby Hunter is so fucking all over the place, I'm just as turned on as I am confused. It's like the first time I realized that girls in yoga pants get me randy bro, I just wasn't expecting to feel such feels in my feel spots bro. Especially my loin feels bro.
What's weird about this track, Corazon, is that while it's playful and poppy, there is some seriously fucking tits ass musicianship going on here. From the guitar riffage, which manages to not be annoying and then get complex, and then get stuck the Fuck all up in your head all day, to the sassy ass break down, Robby Hunter fucking murders this beachy heap of hell yeah.
I don't know how this band categorizes itself, but I fucking love it. - Syffal.com

I’ve heard a few of these songs before (maybe one or two) but I’ve never actually heard of this band till today when I stumbled upon them. They recently dropped an album “Magic City Hippies” and I am loving it as I am sitting here listening to it for the first time. They label themselves under an uncommon genre “indie funk.” Yup that’s my jam. Their sexy bass guitar line, bouncy piano tunes, and heavy hitting syncs combine to make a fresh, funky jive to either chill to or get up and dance to. I’m diggin it. - http://kbills23.wordpress.com/

Straight out of Miami, Robby Hunter Band puts up an ace with “Treat You Right” (feat. GostWridah). An impressive follow up to prior releases, “Hard On Me” and “Corazón”, “Treat You Right” is a nice mix of hip hop, funk and indie styles, all into a perfect slice of beach music in under 3 minutes. - http://blahblahblahscience.com

Time for some sexiness. And I’m not talking the picture! While I’m waiting for the king of pantydropping, Robin Thicke, to drop his new album (yes – it’s going to feature the magnificent Blurred Lines ), I fell upon this gem. Quite in line with their album website tagline “You Are About To Download a Sexy Ass Album”, this shit is hot as sexy hell.
If you like Bust, then give their other tracks a spin. I’ve added a summerlicious tune below for your listening pleasure. The entire album can be downloaded for free here. - http://noiseness.com

Finally, finally, Miami based indie/electro/pop group, Robby Hunter Band, just dropped off their full album "Magic City Hippies". This may be a free project but it's some of the best music I've heard in too long. These guys have a vibe that works for pretty much anything; lounging, beaching, working or just fucking listening to the music. Get it now. Before I take all the free downloads. - http://www.thelaidbacklife.com

Robby Hunter Band started with sparkling electronic elements, crunchy snares, smooth 90s pop vocals, and lyrics about busting a nut that sound like they’re straight from the mouth of a horny teenager who just noticed he finally has a chance with all the girls he’s been fantasizing about his entire life. Then they threw it all in a blender, sprinkled in some pop sensibilities, and ended up with the perfect song for vacations on the beach (and late night hotel room adventures on those vacations). Happy Summer, you guys. - Fishytunes.com

Raise your glasses full of PBR to this week's Thirsty Thursday act, Robby Hunter Band! The Miami-based band is comprised of Robby Hunter (guitar and vocals), Pat Howard (drums), and John Couglin (bass). I featured their latest song "Hard On Me" in yesterday's Hump Day Mix for its dancey and dreampop sound. RHB actually describes the song as a

Labor Day Weekend may have come and gone, but that doesn’t mean the summer celebrations have to end. If it did, it would be an awful waste of the best summer party soundtrack, Magic City Hippies, the debut album from the Robby Hunter Band. Basking in the Miami sun, the indie funk trio serves up an album scorched with hip-hop, R&B, funk, and soul. Each of the 12 tracks on Magic CIty Hippies has its own unique identity, but all of them are inspired by the chill beach lifestyle filled with parties and love affairs that last about as long as the sunset. It’s not easy singling out any one track, so here are three that should inspire you to sneak out of work in search of a sunburn and a hangover. Enjoy.
“Corazon” – a flow like a sped up Slick Rick and a De La Soul-influences chorus, this is the ultimate throwback rap track. - http://everythingwehear.com/

Robin Thicke and Daft Punk may have had the songs of the summer for 2013, but Miami’s Robby Hunter Band takes everything fun about the season and transforms it into music on Magic City Hippies.
Self-described as “IndieFunk, soaked in Miami swagger, dusted with Hip-Hop, and baked in an oven of soul”, you can almost feel the sun and see the beach throughout the album. Naturally, both are heavily featured in their videos, along with other fun summer activities like roller blading and bon fires. But that’s not all. Along with their groovy bass, we’re treated to a bit of freestyle flavour in “Corazon” (below), proving that RHB are pretty fly for white guys.
If you weren’t quick enough to download Magic City Hippies for free in July when it was released, you can stream in its entirety here. It’ll be a great reminder of the beautiful weather ahead once January hits. - http://telescopemedia.com/

Ahh its nice to listen to something refreshing but yet so simple. Miami's Robby Hunter Band released a new single. He best described by his own words..."Hard on Me” is a dancey dollop of doo-wop that merges Motown pop appeal with Phoenix-y fatness, all the while taking on the timeless subject of sexual frustration. Relieve your auditory boules bleues with a jam that your grandma can get down to." That makes sense to us...well said!
If you enjoyed this single check out his other song below called "Corazon." Also check out his Facebook for the latest news and updates. - http://lx-goods.com/

The sweet, seductive sounds of Robby Hunter Band have hit the Internet in full force. We featured their single “BUST” just last weekend on the Kollection – today they’ve released their debut album Magic City Hippies, which is available to download for FREE this weekend on their website. This indie funk band doesn’t disappoint with their debut – the album shows a lot of promise and fully captures the spirit of Miami, which is where the band is based. Magic City Hippies shows a lot of diversity and range in its vocals, instrumentation, and style – upbeat, quick pop songs like “Corazon” and “Fire” contrast sharply to the slower soulful slow dance jams like “Prime” and “BUST,” but all are completely enjoyable. Don’t hesitate to grab your free download while you can this weekend, and show Robby Hunter Band some much deserved love! - Thekollection.com

Summertime is what you make it. When we’re in school, Summertime represents the freedom to conduct all of the debaucheries you day-dreamt about the entire school year and just didn’t have sufficient time to make happen during Spring Break. Summertime, represents the cheesy lines you can now forcefully spit as you walk up to a hot little piece of ass at the beach bar and tell her that what everyone truly needs in life, is someone to look up to; towering over her, half-drunk and horny as all fuck.
You don’t give a fuck
You Just wanna Bust
What about Love
What about Trust.”
BUST is literally about the act of making a woman orgasm. In this case, it seems more like Robby Hunter is directing this to some specific member of the female species. Also in this case, it seems as if this hot lady friend of his has quite a few options.
When its cold and the goal’s to get you off
I can give you what you need
You don’t really want to fold, but I know he’d get you off
Just as good as me.”
It’s quite true that these days, more and more, ladies are the new “Men” in the somewhat cynical sense that some of them could care less about LOVE and more about just busting-that-nut. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is what BUST by the Robby Hunter Band is all about. A simple act of emotionless gratification that is as fulfilling as those light summer breezes that tickle our feet as we tan in the sun all day, frosty alcoholic beverages in hand with all sorts of glisteningly delicious bodies around us. It contains a fun summertime feel that is all too perfect for these last few end-of-summer days we have left.
The song houses a super sensual groove that is equally super seductive, played out perfectly by it’s synths, a sick bassline and its cheeky little piano that pokes its keys in and out, here and there, and sounds eerily like a very young Dr. Dre-esque chord progression. The moans make it that much more obvious and that much more fun, all leading up to a rather fitting powerful climax towards “the end” provided by an intense and unmatchable guitar solo.
Enjoy this at high volumes once everyone at your party is nice and wasted. Slow gyrating, half-naked and the sweet smells of yummy sex in the air.
And I,
Can’t control the sweat we’d drop
When I get you off your feet
And I,
Want to roll but (the) breasts you got
Look good enough to eat.” - http://www.etmusiquepourtous.com/

The boys from Robby Hunter Band are back with a new single, “Bust,” in preparation for the release of their debut album, Magic City Hippies, out this Friday, July 19th. “Bust” is a sultry R&B number that stays true to the band’s sun-drenched, funky aesthetic. Everything the Miami based three-piece has released thus far has been nothing but beach-worthy tune after beach-worthy tune, perfect for kicking back and cooling off with a cold one, so I’m sure the album will not disappoint. Stream “Bust” below and get swept away in the summery goodness. - Allthingsgomusic.com

Bio
sun-drenched, sin-ridden streets of Miami, Robby Hunter found himself being gently pushed farther down his path towards musical greatness. Moving bodies on the sidewalk with his one-man-band setup, Robby had been serenading the local co-eds for months until the local authorities threatened to incarcerate him if he did not "leave or play in a real bar".
Now it's five years later, and the Robby Hunter Band (Robby, guitar and vocals; Pat Howard, drums; John Coughlin, bass) is playing more than their fair share of South Florida's premier venues, gathering an ever larger following in anticipation of their soon-to-be-released debut album. With their first two singles, "Corazn" and "Hard On Me," Robby and his merry men are bringing a unique blend of Indie Funk and Hip Hop straight out of Miami and to the people.
Over the past year, the Robby Hunter Band has found a large and ever-expanding fanbase that can’t get enough of the boys’ hip and unique sound, a genre we like to call Indie Funk. Since the release of their debut album "Magic City Hippies" in July, the RHB has been making huge waves across a variety of media platforms: well over 900k plays on Sound Cloud, a number 2 spot atop MTV’s most popular music video page, and scores of reviews and write-ups from print and online publications the world over.On par with the international success of their debut album, Robby Hunter Band delivers a world-class, high energy live performance that never fails to fill the dance floor. Since hitting the stage at last year’s SXSW Unofficial showcase Bandanza, Robby and the boys have played virtually every respected live music venue in South Florida, drawing larger and larger crowds of enthusiastic fans and intrigued venue patrons.
Check out our music to experience for yourself the Robby Hunter Band and their fresh mix of hometown heroism and finely honed artistry.
