Rivals & Relics likens the character of their sound to that of The Vaccines, Mumford & Sons, Frank Turner, and The Avett Brothers. While instrumentation may vary throughout a set, Rivals & Relics aims to convey a sense of both honesty and driving passion in all of their songs. They released What Holds Us Down To Earth, a four-track EP, in the summer of 2015 on Bandcamp. Later that year, one of the songs from the album, "The Storm" was selected to be featured on Download To Donate, a charity compilation album comprised of unsigned musicians that was released on iTunes by Warner Brothers Records on December 11, 2015.
