R.I.K. (Righteous Israelite King) VIITH was born Joseph “R.I.K. VIITH” George, Jr. in New Orleans, Louisiana. Coming from a bloodline of musicians within his family such as his cousin, Legendary New Orleans Trumpeter Kermit Ruffins, R.I.K. has paved his own lane also as a Trumpet musician playing jazz, 2nd line brass music, and marching in every parade for Mardi Gras in the school's band since the 7th grade (2000) all the way up to high school at St Augustine High School as a senior, where he was impacted heavily as a Hurricane Katrina survivor and nearly lost everything he had in which he found music as his only escape out of his conditions only to be granted a scholarship unto college at Texas Southern University where he excelled and also pledged Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity. In 2010, R.I.K. was granted the opportunity to record a few tracks by way of his childhood friend and fellow emcee David “KvngDavid” Baptiste, Jr. R.I.K. distributes a very diverse, yet versatile cadence that touches upon many contentious matters within the world, as well as enlightening people of situations he’s faced daily within his personal life. R.I.K. continues to strive in working towards perfecting his craft as a form of art, presented by his drive and passion for the art of music rather than just some method of trying to swiftly get rich. R.I.K. strongly believes in the power and influence that music possesses through spoken word, which is why he strives to produce music from personal life experiences throughout his journey that he hopes that people could relate to, feel in their hearts, or hopefully help and motivate others to get through their obstacles in life. R.I.K. takes pride in staying true to vision, as well as leading by example not only for his generation, but all generations continuing to push forward in taking his creativeness to greater heights, expressing his art, while defining his purpose, also in turn sharing it with the world to grow along with him.
