New York’s rising pop-punk outfit, Reckless Serenade, are looking to keep the genre alive and relevant while breaking the boundaries of what pop-punk is capable of producing. Their newest release, Chasing Lights, is an album full of anthems from start to finish and never has a dull moment. This is good, aggressive, edgy pop-punk music for the pop-punk fan looking for something fresh and exciting. Some of my favorite tracks include “Sunrise,” “Our Year,” and “Cage Rage.”
They’re also a band that is on a sure path for success. They’re in the process of releasing a music video for their single “Missile,” which is an absolute killer track of this album. They’ve had a few radio interview/performances and are currently working with the man who designed T-shirts for Fall Out Boy, A Day to Remember and The Wonder Years.
I feel like all of these pop-punk bands that reach out to me are better than some of the pop-punk acts that are already well-known. Their passion is completely visible through their music and to see a band with the opportunities that Reckless Serenade have, it really pleases me to see them on the rise.

Hailing from Mahopac, N.Y. — just outside of New York City — indie rockers Reckless Serenade have been crafting their unique brand of pop-punk since forming in 2012. In 2014, they released their debut full-length record, Chasing Lights, and today (June 1), Diffuser is thrilled to debut their brand-new single, “Pretty Monster,” a day before it hits the streets — check it out in the audio player below.
“‘Pretty Monster’ is a song about the kind of girl that can totally destroy you — she’s hot and she knows it,” frontman Cory Brent explains about the new track. “You know she’s trouble and in a weird way, it’s addicting. I think in writing this song, we have taken a significant step forward in discovering our sound. As far as the songwriting process goes, we tried writing the melody first, which is something new for us.”
He adds, “We feel like it really opened up a lot of creative options. In the past year, we’ve been more focused on workshopping our songs, and I think ‘Pretty Monster’ is the first song that has really benefited from that. All in all, it was just a super exciting and positive experience and we’re very proud of how it all came together. We’re just stoked that the moment has arrived and we can finally share this with everybody!”
You can check out all of Reckless Serenade’s music at their official Bandcamp, and make sure to stay current with everything that’s happening in their world at this location.

Bio
Hailing from the Upstate NY town of Mahopac, the pop/punk indie band Reckless Serenade are all friends from high school, each with unique tastes in music, bringing their different styles to the writing process resulting in upbeat and angst-ridden songs spanning many genres.
Pulling their name from the Arctic Monkey's song of the same name, the 5 piece formed in 2012. The players, Cory Brent- Vocals, Mark Neidhardt- Guitar, Steve Zeiss- Bass, Will Prinzi- Guitar, Matt Ruggiero- Drums all met at school, and found their musical identities matched their ambitions, and they instantly connected. Since then, they’ve made enormous strides in becoming more than just a local band.
Their first 6 song EP was released by Fervor Records and has been featured on Fox Sports. The band won the MTVu Freshmen with the single from the EP 'Two Years Too Late'.
Last year saw the release of their debut full length album 'Chasing Lights', with each song on the album sounding distinctive, allowing Reckless Serenade's dynamic and versatile sound inspire their audiences at shows across the northeast. Chasing Lights garnered Top 30 successes around the country at College Radio over the summer, as well as commencing a series of east coast dates to support the record. 'Hear Me Out' blogger Luke Helker says: "Chasing Lights is an album full of anthems from start to finish and never has a dull moment. This is good, aggressive, edgy pop-punk music for the pop-punk fan looking for something fresh and exciting.
The latest video from Reckless Serenade, 'Take Me Back To The Summer' will launch in the fall of 2014, out and showcases the band's dynamic sense of melody and rhythm as well as their offbeat humor, with the song highlighting their intelligent arranging and playing skills as well as powerful vocals.
Look for the latest songs this fall and a new record in 2015!
