Bio
Birthed from the treacherous throes of passion, duplicity and absolution, the New Mexico based duo Quietly Kept creates a unique, acoustic sound using guitar, drum and tantalizing harmonies. With the motivation of a jilted lover, Quietly Kept delivers to their listeners a new wave of folk-rocker's punk-pop that tells a story and keeps you around until the end.
Quietly Kept is an acoustic Indie/Rock duo out of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Rob Nakai (formerly of The Cobra Effect, Bat Wings for Lab Rats and Holiday Sail) has performed all over the southwest including at the Playboy Club in The Palms Casino Resort, Warped Tour 2011 and during SXSW in 2006, while Calah Mae has been a talented vocalist for the last 12 years performing in various choirs and musicals. Both met through Albuquerque's open mic scene and have been making music happen ever since. Their music has been likened to The Lumineers, Nickel Creek and The Civil Wars.
In May 2014, Quietly Kept hit the road to promote their debut release, Failing is Learning, a story told through music and sound, with a West Coast tour spanning from Arizona to Washington and ending in Colorado. In August, they took off again for a mini-tour through Arizona, California and Oregon ending with a bang at the Portland Saturday Market. They landed a spot on a compilation album called Acoustic Autumn which can be found on iTunes and got to participate in YouBloom's first appearance in the US at their festival and conference. Next year, QK has plans to collaborate with local hip-hop artists and producers to remix their debut.
This is only the beginning for Quietly Kept, so keep an open ear. You can find their album online and on tour and likely see them performing in the streets of your town.
