The Man Behind The Music
Born Quanjay Jaculb Jones on August 22, 1983. Quanjay grew up on the streets of Columbia, SC where he got used to life of crime, valuable lessons and hard experiences. When listening to Quanjay Lyon, you can hear the southern intensity of the atmosphere he grew up in. Unashamed of his roots, he embraces the southern culture of Hip Hop/Rap Music and puts that good hospitality on every track.
Quanjay Lyon Jones was raised by his mother, along with two sisters and two brothers. Quanjay’s early childhood years was filled with many trials and tribulations. By the time Quanjay was ten years old, he had already experienced many hardships in life and had gotten used to being under privileged. Quanjay was molested several times during his childhood years which left him scared, confused, and suicidal; he talks about those experiences in his book “They Molested My Mind.”
By the time Quanjay was eighteen years old he was well on his way to being a criminal. After many years of living the life he saw on the streets of Columbia; Quanjay started writing poetry, producing music, and rapping. Expressing himself through his music was where he found an escape from the world around him. Being incarcerated briefly behind the walls of a jail cell, Quanjay realized it wasn’t the place for him. It wasn’t until Quanjay was introduced to Christ that he started to make changes for the better.
As tume went by, Quanjay started to teach the prinipals of God, but found that young adults and children didn’t want to hear the message that was being taught. This lead him to find ways of teaching that millennials could receive the word of God. When Quanjay was introduced to a Christian Rap and found out that the word of God was being delivered in a way that was beyond traditional preaching, he wrote and recorded his first single “Hallelujah.”
Since recording his first single, Quanjay Lyon has performed on several platforms with many artist and still maintains a level of humility and passion that can be heard within every song. If you’re looking for a great Hip Hop/Rap artist, with an encouraging message, a powerful teaching ability and someone who stands out from the crowd, it doesn’t get any better than Quanjay Lyon!
