Purple Germs is an original band formed with Boston's favorite cover musicians - and each year the roster grows to include the rock stars that the fans want to hear.
Formed in 2009 by Tom Stevens (Stage name: "Harold"), Purple Germs first album was released as a solution to an unasked question. "What's next after conquering the cover band scene?" Following over a thousand shows in Boston MA with Hit Squad, Purple Germs resurfaced in 2016, rejuvenated with a following of fans. With a plan to release a series of albums telling the story of how familiar monsters imitate life, Purple Germs finally had it's mission.
The 2017 Gargantuan album pulled together 10 musicians from six cover bands to blast out a rock album written in the vein of Zappa/Def Leppard/AliceCooper/Kiss.
Launching in September of 2018, the third album Mr. Bigfoot expands its head-count of Boston musicians and offers a wider range of Rock. Fans will be treated to the writing styles of Tesla, Extreme, Journey, Motley Crue, and even Elton John!
The 2019 Purple Germs album is already recording demos and is scheduled for a mid-summer 2020 release.
Among the related series of albums, The Fenway Sessions will be released in 2018. This album contains early writings restored from 1994.
