"-Irene Collins, WVRV 92.5 The River"

"People Like You is a definite new talent of songwriters and musicians that as a band seem to have no limit on originality and creativity… it will be well worth keeping an ear tuned to their music” -Irene Collins, WVRV 92.5 The River -

"-Christopher Hislop, The Edge"

"It's freaky. It's folky. It's loose. It's fun. It seems the perfect soundtrack to permeate from the windows of that purple bus, which they affectionately refer to as 'The Looney Bin.' It's kids music for adults." -Christopher Hislop, The Edge -

"-Larry Clow, The Sound"

"Whatever you call it, it’s a unique sound, fun and freewheeling and a little messy." -Larry Clow, The Sound -

"-Austin Sorette, PortsmouthNH.com"

"The band’s sound serves as a vehicle for the sort of folklore storytelling that comes with the traveling gypsy culture." -Austin Sorette, PortsmouthNH.com -

"-Chris Harris, Take Magazine"

"Some bands can be easily pigeonholed. Others can’t. Portsmouth, New Hampshire’s own People Like You fall into the latter category, possessing a sound that, at times, can be best described as folk. People Like You buck trends and reject classification." -Chris Harris, Take Magazine -

"THE "WHY SAY WHY?" VIDEO ALSO APPEARED ON..."

"Unique almost doesn’t cover it when it comes to People Like You. This five piece band creates psychedelic vaudeville tunes with a punk mentality — and they use everything at their disposal to do it... If there was any band to be highlighted for taking their own advice, People Like You seems to be it. From the accordion and upbeat rhythm that kicks it all off to the spread of images that make up the accompanying video, People Like You are going for it, never stopping to ask why. “Why Say Why” sports addictively gritty vocals and a heavy dose of groove and sticks with you in its catchiness, but also in its positivity."

Since their inception in 2013, People Like You have been featured in national publications like The Deli, Sound, Take, and EDGE. They’ve received worldwide radio play, from L.A. and London’s KCRW to several radio stations in Australia. Their live performances have supported such artists as Consider the Source, Bella’s Bartok, and Seth Yacovone Band.

“All of the songs were tracked live,” said Eli Elkus, singer-songwriter and acoustic guitarist of People Like You, “and then overdubbed to try and capture some of the life they've had with us playin' 'em around for the past year or so and to prevent being rhythmically gridlocked.”

Mixing was done, in part, at the home studio and the rest in a room the band has in Boston, where the mastering was also completed.

"Music for the people, by the people, with no specific people in mind." -Chris Hislop, The EDGE.

Juxtaposing vaudevillian mischief, eastern rhythms, and psychedelic folk-rock madness with curious lyrical content and bizarre pop sensibilities, the sound is charismatic, inspired, kooky, and at times haunting. The singer/songwriter tandem of road warrior rabble-rouser Eli Elkus and his contemporary bohemian cosmonaut Andrew Polakow have created a sound that is strangely captivating and yet somehow familiar, like a
