The Annual Jamaica International Ocho Rios Jazz Festival dates back to 1991 when it was first started as an experimental one-day event called the Ocho Rios Mini Jazz Festival. The famous musician and journalist Sonny Brandshaw, a jazz pioneer, produced and directed the festival. The main reason to start the festival was to redefine the musical scene of Jamaica and to provide entertainment and an enjoyable atmosphere for families. With that in mind, Father's Day was chosen for the event. The festival was first held in Carib Inn Beach of Ocho Rios under the byline Greatest Names in Jamaican Jazz. Within a span of three years the event grew from one to eight days and became the Caribbeans complete jazz vacation.
The festival features some of the greatest names in jazz. This years line up will include Joe Sizemore and Friends, Pie Grande, Pat Braxton and Niki Walters performances.The festival organises community concerts, exhibitions and also boasts Youth Programs. It has established Jazz Hall of Fame Awards which recognises Jamaican and Caribbean musicians who have contributed to the art and distinguished themselves internationally.
In addition to the visitor's search for sun, sea and fun in June, the Ocho Rios Jazz Festival offers the unique cultural cross-fertilisation of musicians, painters, artistes, Jamaican art & crafts and jazz for the youth.

Pat Braxton was born in Sommer's Point NJ, and grew up in Boston MA. And now resides in Milton MA. She has released 3 projects. Them There Eyes (2010), God Bless the Child (2012) and her current release Pat Braxton Live At Scullers (2013) .
Pat is quickly becoming a trilling and engaging woman in jazz as a vocalist, composer, recording artist and entertainer. So much so that she has been Awarded Best Female Jazz Artist at The New England Music Urban Awards 2012 & 2013 and Best Jazz Cd/Single 2013.Nominated at The London Urban Music Awards and for Boston Music Awards in the Jazz category.
“As far a I can remember, I have always loved to entertain people and put a smile on their faces. I started singing and performing before I could read .It was a lot of fun and still is!” That’s how Pat Braxton describes the beginning of her interest in music. She was born in New Jersey and was raised in Boston, Ma. Showcasing her talent throughout the United States,Canada , Europe , Italy and Asia and has included performances that The Blues Alley in(Washington DC), Scullers Jazz Club (Boston), Ocho Rios International Jazz festival (Kingston Jamaica ),Jersey Shores Jazz and Blues festival , Boston Jazz Fest ,International Jazz Cruises and a host of other venues. She captivates her audiences everywhere with her personality and charm.
Pat has often been compared to Billie Holiday and her voice and facial features are strikingly similar. Pat was one of the vocalists chosen to perform at the Urban League’s 90th Anniversary Gala Event, which was held at the Boston Seaport Hotel .Pat has worked The Whispers ,Herb Reed and Platters,The Temptations Revue and a host of others artist .. Pat Braxton’s presence, and emotional appeal continues to thrill aud audiences of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures. So, if you like Billie Holiday, you will love Pat. She brings you back in time like no other Jazz artist of this day and age.
