This night was really only about one person, Solomon from LA Beatdown and Blasted. For one, this was his birthday party. This man is one of the GREATEST most hard working and passionate individuals in this craft. This is someone you want to be friends with, and not because of who he is but because of what he represents. Anyone who was lucky enough to be there for his set will understand how hard this guy has worked and the impact his passion has made on his completely unique talent. By many peoples standards, Solomon’s set would have been considered very unorthodox and not fit for “The Club”. But what really caught me about the whole set from start to finish is two things, Variety and Selection. Solomon played what he liked and what he wanted to hear, and it just so happens that just about everybody in that damn club at that moment was loving what was going on in his mind because people were going off. I cant say i have heard a set that goes full gangster into some deep dark bass, throws in some classic hip hop here and there, drops in a few club tracks and then spits me out somewhere in the mid to late 80′s until then. Artist’s take a tip: Don’t be afraid to leave the box! There is 70+ years of amazing music out there that many people have yet to hear and enjoy. Allow yourself to listen to everything and transition past to present, keep music timeless and special. Nobody is complaining about the variety and uniqueness of this mans act, in fact the club was over praising it. He sure won my vote and a LOT of my respect. Not just as an artist, but as a human being. Big ups Solomon, hope your birthday was awesome! -
