Bio
Formed initially in the cyphers of the Gainesville hip-hop scene, MSNRA started as the solo project of Alexander Crook, a percussionist, producer, and emcee under his then moniker, Masune Ra. Quickly joined by fellow MCs and producers in the town such as Bola, D-Child, Kairos, Ominous Sonata, etc... MSNRA eventually came to include Mariama Ndure, a siren who is an ethnically Gambian Norwegian citizen. Mariama's soul-rich powerful voice found itself at Berklee school of music where she met Alexander. Her addition to the band changed the scope of MSNRA to draw more from soul, rhythm and blues, and gospel influences that saw the Songbirds eventually form to include DMV-native polymath Theron Gray and operatic renaissance lady Shara Lunon from South Florida. Tristan Whitehill's (Euglossine) savant multi-intstrument perspective was also added with the singers to fill out the live-band and thus recorded layers of MSNRA. Dillard Whitehouse (Floating), first procured as the DJ, is another musician along with Tristan who has developed and released a solo project that uses talents in production, instrumentation, and composition.
