Gainesville’s own Morning Fatty opened the show, playing a tight 45 minutes, fusing together jams of Funk, Reggae and Rock. The band played a selection of original tracks and vicious rock jam interludes linking song into song. Fatty also included several Reggae-tinged covers, cool renditions of the “Pink Panther’ and the set closing cover of The Beatles “Hey Jude”. - Aaron Solomon
The group can be best described as a jam band with reggae roots and a retro sound ; its Sunfest set-list used mini-jam transitions to flow from one song to the next. Most of the performance revolved around originals such as “Dreams” and “All Hail The Holy Funk”, but the few covers played were used in creative ways. Steppenwolf’s classic “Magic Carpet Ride” melted into the Allman Brother’s “Jessica” then resumed for its conclusion. The Beatles also got their due with a cover of “Hey Jude - Sheldon Robertson

Bio
Morning Fatty, an ever-evolving punk/ska turned reggae-funk band, has transformed their sound yet again. The group combines individual musical prowess to create a strong collective chemistry. Based out of Gainesville Florida, Morning Fatty continues to evolve and transform their sound since coming together in 2004. The group’s original dynamic shifted incredibly with the addition of experienced drummer Tim Mulberry. Previous to joining the band, Tim had accomplished a world tour drumming for The Black Eyed Peas. The new sound can only be described as Funk Rock Electro Dub, or simply FRED. By melding electronic bass drops, dueling guitar licks, heavy rock melodies and a fat reggae groove, Morning Fatty discovered a distinctive sound that pays homage to each member’s unique style
