Meet the band Molina, a four piece alternative rock band from Binghamton, NY. The band name Molina, comes from the last name of the front man, Jon Molina. Once I listened to their debut track, "Swing Devotion", I knew we had to feature them on here.
​Molina has an incredible sound. I love the fact there is a female included in the vocals on this song. Combining her voice with the great voice of Jon Molina, and you have gold. If you've read any of my past blogs, you know it's one of my favorite sounds. Unfortunately, she is not a member of the band and has her own thing going on. If she happens to read this, she needs to drop everything she is doing and try to become a permanent member of Molina. Seriously! Her and Jon's voice together is gold.
When I first heard Molina's sound, my first thought was, "Damn these guys are good." After listening to the song about twenty more times, it was confirmed, these guys are damn good! This is one of those times where you hear someone and think,These guys are 100% legit.
It can be tricky judging a band by a studio track. The true test comes with how they sound live. Not having seen any quality video of them live, I can imagine they still sound pretty damn good. Molina, an Alternative/ Rock band from Binghamton NY, formed in 2014 they have just released their debut EP album titled "Swing Devotion". This album was written with a heavy influence from NY native bands "Interpol" and "The National" with enthralling guitar riffs, and ever driving bass lines, topped off with a distinct vocal range.
The Album is written by Jon Molina and produced, mixed and recorded by Jeff DaBella at Mansion Audio Productions. Jeff Dabella has worked with such artists as Auto Pilot off, Island/Def Jam, Dena, Virus, and Ashley Lux to name a few. All mastering is performed by Earl Cohen , who has worked with a veritable "who's who" of today's super stars. Cohens credits include: Pink, Lady GaGa, Tina Turner, Usher, and Destiny's Child among other greats.
Molina was humbled to share the stage with 80's legend Tom Keifer from the iconic band "Cinderella". The response was overwhelming and sparked the band into releasing their 5 track EP "Swing Devotion" in late December 2015. This was the bands first time to show their true potential and Molina hopes to gain exposure locally and nationally with with their new album "Swing Devotion".
