"make mini and the Bear your ‘power volume’ “xBOYFRIENDx”"

San Francisco "power volume" duo mini and the Bear just released a video for their track "xBOYFRIENDx", and it's got everything you need for an afternoon with that special someone. A tandem bike? Check. Frolicking in the grass? You betcha. Sparklers in a Tecate can? Lots of screaming? Check and check. SF filmmaker Rob Goc directed and Nick Myggen shot the video, and I think it's a win:

Mini and the Bear got their start in Michigan as a dance duo, Top Secret Robot Alliance, but later moved separately to San Francisco where they reinvented themselves as a much...louder group. "Power volume" is a "genre" the duo coined themselves, and they're currently teaming up with local artist Nathan Sharp to release an album - not on vinyl or cassette - but in book format. Amazing. Their latest EP, CA$HFI$T is below, and they will perform at the Golden Bull in Oakland tomorrow night. - The Bay Bridged

Still working on that hot first release.

Feeling a bit camera shy

Originally formed in 2008 in Dallas, TX and now operating out of San Francisco, CA, mini and the Bear is a distorted bass and drums duo responsible for christening the Power Volume genre.  Combining the energy of punk, the gnarly tones of noise rock, and the catchiness of pop, these two dudes have been at it for years with a slew of underground releases on label Lazerz: Dance til 4am.

2015 saw them release the CA$HFI$T EP and Pinchin' 40s / My Fiction 7", tour the west coast twice, and put out a critically acclaimed music video for the single "xBOYFRIENDx" (directed by Rob Goc).

mini and the Bear's live show is short, loud, intensely energetic, and features a custom light show run by the band in real time.
