Matthew J captures the soul of the blues in a modern way. Matthew's roots go back to the Ozark region of Southern Missouri where his family tended to crops during the depression. From an early age Matthew's life was tied to and influenced by an upbringing who knew hard times in a way that most around him never could imagine. From this genesis, however, comes a certain soul that can only be earned by scraping, clawing and fighting for everything one needs. The result is acoustic country blues reinvented.
