"Marissa Lauren is a 20-something singer-songwriter from Redondo Beach who got a big boost this week from Lena Dunham. The creator and star of HBO's "Girls" chose Lauren to be her opening act at the Pasadena tour stop for her book, Not That Kind of Girl" - KPCC, The Frame
"...Lauren is smart enough to remember that the package is just as important as what is inside and has constructed colorful backdrops for her songs. “Hold Over Me” is a prime example of how she does this. She times her vocal harmonies strategically...you find yourself infected by the hooks of the music, if not singing along." - The Equal Ground
"This girl can sing!...(Marissa) Lauren covers Michaelson's song, "Home." And her version is so good!" - 1043MYfm
"Beautiful cover of my song "Home". Haunting voice." - Twitter
"Again, cuteness won us over with this cover. Marissa did every single part of this acoustic/a capella cover herself. Awesome!" - 97.1 AMP Radio
"Love you" - Twitter

Bio
NOTE: Marissa Lauren is a solo artist who CAN PLAY WITH A FULL BAND, SOLO, OR ACOUSTIC depending on booking needs.
Marissa Lauren is a singer/songwriter from Los Angeles, CA. She recently caught the attention of singer Ingrid Michaelson who called her voice 'beautiful' & 'haunting'. Since then Marissa has opened for Lena Dunham (creator and star of HBO's hit show GIRLS), released her Debut EP 'Now & Forever', and most recently played alongside headliners Aretha Franklin, Rachel Platten ('Fight Song'), and Lady Antebellum ('Need You Now') at Musikfest: the USA's largest free music festival. Marissa writes piano driven Pop music with heavy Indie Pop and Folk influences, plus a dash of soul. She has been compared to artists like Regina Specktor, Sara Bareilles, and Adele.
Marissa was awarded Best Vocals, Most Original, and Song of The Year at UC Irvine's Antstock music festival; a campus-wide competition for songwriters. Her cover of Nicki Minaj's, 'Starships' gained much attention when Nicki Minaj herself tweeted Marissa's video to her 17 million followers. 97.1 AMP Radio also named Marissa's acoustic/acapella version of 'Starships' one of "the best covers of the year's hottest tracks!".
Her cover projects have also inspired her to explore music production. Today, she arranges, records, and produces music projects from her home studio. When she isn't writing, or collaborating with other artists and producers, you can find her playing all over the west coast.
