Born and raised in Capitol Heights Maryland, the young 21 year old emcee Mahogany also known as Mojo brings a retro sound to today's Hip Hop. Mahogany’s inspiration came from The Golden Age of Hip Hop by listening to MC Lyte, Rakim, A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, and many more legendary Rappers in the 90s. Mahogany started taking her music career serious after a year from graduating high school realizing working a part time job in retail isn’t how she wants to spend her 20s and the rest of her years. The message in this weird, sensitive, hippy, creative mind state of Mojo is to inspire people to always believe in yourself and love yourself first. She is currently building a loyal fan base across the east coast on her own by connecting with her fans through social media and events. Mahogany has performed at open mic nights at Busboys and Poets, showcased at Howard University’s Deaf Jam events, and some NYC open mic nights as well. Mojo Monday is a movement Mahogany created where she releases free music on SoundCloud to give her listeners a taste of what to except from her upcoming mixtape. At the moment Mahogany is working on a mixtape titled 94 that should be released in 2016, and will definitely have you feeling like your back in the 90s.
