Bio
Fresh off the heels of the Jill Scott's summer tour as her opening act Maha Adachi has been riding a creative wave since the re-launch of her professional poetry career in 2016. Leaving the sunshine state and her hometown of Miami, FL Maha has planted her roots in the laid back and beautiful Mooresville, NC. Prior to her 3 year hiatus, as a poet, Maha has been featured on national television, hosted an open mic night at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, was a regular at Abiodun Oyewole's Sunday poetry gathering at his home in Harlem and toured performing at countless colleges and poetry venues throughout the country. Now in this artistic rebirth she has toured several cities with the Punany Poets as a poet, writer, director and producer of the hilarious School of Seduction. Maha also performed on the Capital Jazz Cruise as a feature poet during the 7 day Bermuda cruise in 2016. She's also been enlisted to become a part of the powerhouse poetry collective Guerrilla Spit, a team of slam and performance poets under the inspiration of the slain Miami HBO Def Poet Will Da Real One Bell. Her work is defined often and comical, edgy, thought provoking and sexy. The literary and performance inspiration that Maha clings to comes from classic writers of the Harlem Renaissance, the revolutionary poets of the late 60's and the profound words of contemporary poets like Asia Sampson, Sunni Patterson, Taalam Acey and M'Reld Green. Because of her love for hip-hop and gospel music her work is also influenced by the sounds of Outkast, Big KRIT, Mahalia Jackson, and Kirk Franklin.
