The Florida-born and Dallas-based singer, DJ, MC and producer Madame Mims doesn’t need much time to make an impression on her Parasomnias EP.
All it takes is 21 minutes for Mims to pull you in with a bewitching mixture of electronic music, R&B, soul and hip-hop — Mims recorded these nine tracks at Arlington’s Banger Boy Studio — bound together by Mims’ arresting voice, which weaves in and out of the foreground.
A full-length version of Parasomnias, Mims’ overall sophomore album, is reportedly due out later this year. Mims moves easily between the spaced out ( Wah Wah; the aptly titled Drifting Away), the more grounded ( Turn It Loose, a little startling after more contemplative tracks) and the wonderfully odd ( It’s a Nightmare evokes the left-field R&B conjured by Solange Knowles or Janelle Monae).

Madame Mims is an American lyricist, singer-songwriter & DJ residing in Dallas, Tx. Originally from Florida, her skills & sharp ear on the wheels of steel are just as powerful as her stage presence and live performances.
Noted for her distinguishing music & live performances, this music artist takes her skills as a DJ and combines them with her vocal knowledge for an unforgettable performance every time. She builds her shows as an engineer, bringing to life musical elements within her original content by inviting live musicians to accompany her. It is always a show that encourages audience interaction and excitement.
She had a pulling toward music at a young age. Starting with the piano and later developing into recording & DJing, her self-produced music is often referred to as being in its own lane. Even her hip hop influenced music has it's own sound. Some refuse to call her a rap artist in this regard, but rather a storyteller.
Having affiliation with Parliament Funkadelic, in 2008, she began working closely with George Clinton as an engineer, producer & vocalist. She helped manage his studio in Florida for 4 years before relocating to Dallas, Tx. It was here that she began DJing and singing in Foley's band, a musician known for his time with Miles Davis and Prince.
Since then, she has created a solid following through vigorous musical events inside and outside of Dallas, Tx. In 2016, she completed a 2 month tour of the southeast which included performances in Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Columbus and Memphis.
Her brand revolves around truth, humbleness, exploration & emotion. People attend her shows for a rejuvenating experience that motivates them in their own endeavors. She gives hope to others and speaks on behalf of those who are afraid to simply speak on their emotions. There is something there for everyone as she touches men, women, the young and the old.
As she continues to make a deep impact, she is now focusing on more inspirational and educational visuals for her audience. 2018 will bring plenty new music as well. The journey continues.
