Bio
KVI is a 28 year old multifaceted artist, songwriter and producer from Charlottesville, Virginia. He started songwriting at the age of 12, then progressed into singing and rap with encouragement from his friends and family. He’s heavily influenced by prominent artists such as A Tribe Called Quest, Biggie Smalls, Slick Rick and music from the early 2000s. In 2009, he released a series of songs under the name Kai Sincere—song “Study Buddy” went viral on YouTube with over 500,000 views. He shifted his focus into writing songs for developing artists and evolving his sound.
In 2016, he changed his name from Kai Sincere to KVI to represent his growth as an artist and songwriter. KVI rebirthed his sound into a blend of experimental hip-hop, poppy synth ballads, and aggressive lyrical deliveries. Now he’s ready to reintroduce himself to world and inspire a younger generation to be true to themselves.
Midnight In Virginia, is KVI’s first official conceptual mixtape about a small town country boy’s transition into a big city poet. His inspirations are drawn from self-reflections and manifestations—characterized by unorthodox songwriting over genre binding productions. KVI’s lyrical delivery is undeniably compelling on singles “Shawty Lo" and “Gamer”. He shows his versatility as a singer/songwriter on tracks “She Work Hard” and “Oasis”. KVI is set out to break boundaries by adding elements of hip hop, R&B, pop and spoken word into one project.
