"Kung Fu Vinyl at Central Saloon"

Spokane’s most dynamic hip-hop band, Kung Fu Vinyl, makes their way to Seattle this Saturday to throw down at the Central Saloon. Hosted by Marshall Hugh of the Marshall Law Band, fellow Spokane rappers Jango and Matisse will be there to heat things up. Also joining this action-packed line-up will be J. Moe Da Bird and Tony Montana from Seattle. All of these artists have deep credentials and are on the verge of breaking out so get there early to see them all!

Kung Fu Vinyl formed during mid-2018 and have been packing Spokane venues ever since. With raw lyricism and a jazzy-soulful sound, they know how to rock the crowd and keep the energy high. This six-piece band consists of two emcees, keyboards, saxophone, bass, drums, and guitar to create what they call “knock-your-head-off hip hop.”

Kung Fu Vinyl Talks Seattle Show
I was able to sit with KosMos, an emcee and keyboardist of KFV, and we had a chance to chop it up about their debut performance in Seattle. He mentioned that it has been a goal this year for the band to play there. “We’re stoked. We’ve been wanting to play in Seattle. We wanted to make it a point to get out of town.” KosMos went on to speak about the other shows they’ve had in Sandpoint, ID and Portland, OR. So I asked him about what the Central Saloon can expect this Saturday, he said, “You can expect a whole lot of energy, its a gonna be a fucking party!” We continued to reminisce about the last show they threw in Spokane and how crazy lit it was.

Kung Fu Vinyl loves to party and Saturday night shouldn’t be anything less than one. “We’re always trying to elevate the shows, as a production, rather than just a band getting on the fucking stage and playing music. The music is important, you know, and we all feel, in agreement, that we want to play the music but also give you an experience.

The Kung Fu Sound
“For what our sound is like, we’ve got a wide variety. Some of its rock, some of its straight east coast stuff as far as who produces.” KFV uses multiple producers and has partially produced themselves with KosMos and Bob Ross who plays drums. “We’re like if you put The Roots, Grateful Dead, and Little Brother all together in a blender and blended it up. When you hear it it makes a lot of sense.”

I’ve heard this band numerous times and they are a Spokane wash pool of great musicians. From Ben10, the solo emcee, to KosMos, who not only emcees but also plays keys, hold it down on the front line. Dookie Brown, the baddest guitarist in town, and Matty D., who plays a sweet-sweet sax, ride the melodies and have exhilarating solos on the breakbeats. And finally the heavy hitters, Bob Ross on drums and Tanner Brown on bass. A collective group ready to take grip in the greater Seattle area. - Respect My Region

Bio

Forged from the remnants of Spokane’s favorite future soul unit,
Kung Fu Vinyl rises from the ashes with the fury of a thousand
swordsman. Two rhyme-slaying emcees perform knock-your-head-off hip hop with live saxophone, guitar, keyboard, and drums. Their high energy anthems, musicianship and lyricism draw from as wide a range of tastes and styles as kung fu does it’s many stances. Their live performances are filled with an energy and honesty that are rarely found together in such harmony.
