Bio
Born and raised in Detroit, Kirabelle Frabotta is a folk, jazz, singer, songwriter, living and loving in Nashville, eternally chasing truth and expression through music. arranging songs from the Great American Songbook and folk favorites, and original compositions, utilizing various instruments and collaborating with cellist, Josh Dent. Her style is reminiscent of vocalists from a by-gone era, many of whom have greatly influenced her distinct vocal style such as Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Mel Torme, Billy Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Jo Stafford, Blossom Deary, Patsy Cline, and Anita O'Day. Her voice is clear and pure with a tone as sweet as honey. As a singer/songwriter, her compositions are inspired by Folk, Pop, and Jazz artists from Joni Mitchell to Norah Jones. For live performances, Kirabelle is a delight, often known to entice and engage her audience into participating on old favorites or standards such as "Tonight You Belong To Me" and "Dream A Little Dream of Me" to name a few.
Kirabelle hails from a Celt Italian family of musicians, including a familial relation to Swing Band legend, Guy Lombardo. She was raised on radio, quite literally, joining her mother, a DJ and program director, and promoter of Indie Acoustic, Underground and world music at a non-commercial radio station. Her formative years were spent on the other side of the mixing board, anticipating an opportunity to speak into the microphone for an impromptu PSA or tasked to find an obscure record from the great wall of vinyl, educating an adventurous ear.
Prior to moving to Nashville, Kirabelle worked as a swing jazz vocalist singing standards for trios and quartets, for various gigs in and around Detroit including The Arts, Beats, & Eats and The Detroit International Jazz Festival. She is also well versed with a repertoire covering over 100 jazz standards along with new arrangements she's re-arranged for ukulele and guitar. She is a proficient Scots Highland dancer and teacher, has earned a Bachelor's degree in Theatre and Music, and for six years, performed in front of an International audience as a vocalist in a 1920's 'period' ensemble trio medley entertainers, as a soprano, blending three part harmony at "America's Greatest History Attraction" - The Henry Ford.
Since moving to Nashville in May of 2012, Kirabelle has become immersed in the music culture of Nashville as a solo artist, writing, performing, and collaborating. She continues to perform originals, covers, and even children's songs on ukulele, guitar (electric & acoustic), piano, and melodica, in many of the local venues around Nashville from The 5 Spot to The Basement as well as touring the Midwest, East Coast, and the South, playing gigs from Chicago to NYC as well as Austin - SXSW 2013 as a solo artist, or along with cellist, Joshua Dent, and occasionally others, establishing new connections with musicians and fans.
