Akron, Ohio’s alt-rock group Keys & Corridors recently released their latest EP Thieves. It’s not often that a solid rock album comes out anymore, so even though it’s only five songs in length it’s still refreshing to hear something like this.

The overall sound of Thieves is pretty familiar, it would fit in well with a lot of the early 2000’s music that populated Fuse (do you guys remember when Fuse was cool? That was awesome.) Keys & Corridors sound like a more rock version of Paramore or a slightly more punk-y version of Evanescence, with solid guitar work, a hard edged sound, and impressive vocals from Kaylene Widdoes. Each song is pretty similar in sound, a standard alt-rock track with some flashes of metalcore or slight drifts towards softer sounds, but that’s not a knock against it.

For it being only an EP Thieves is still really impressive and more than likely only shows a fraction of what Keys & Corridors are able to do. If you think of an EP as a business card or resume of a band, showing you what’s important but not giving the whole story, then they are a band that at the very least has earned themselves a second interview if that makes sense. The songs are all very well crafted and well written, the acoustic version of Transparent at the end is unexpected but it only furthers the belief that this EP is only a glimpse at what they are capable of. All in all, Thieves is highly recommended and it wouldn’t be a bad idea to keep an eye out for what they have in store for the future, we certainly will. - Midwest Music Collective

Thieves is the debut EP from Akron, Ohio alternative rock band, Keys & Corridors. Featuring an alternative sound that blends the likes of pop-punk, acoustic guitar and melodic rock, the EP is a strong release from a band who are sure to make an impact on the scene.

Thieves beings with a strong alternative rock vibe, with track “Exchange” showcasing Keys & Corridors’ energy and instrumental ability. Dual female vocals offer a vibe that’s similar to that of Courage My Love, and the track is one of the EP’s strongest. It’s followed by the melodic “Abandon Ship”, which features vocals from Atlas Uncharted’s Dommie Frusteri. Starting off slower than “Exchange”, it builds into melodic rock that’s heavily guitar driven and better shows off vocalist Kaylene Widdoes’ vocal ability.

“Red Letters” is where Thieves delves into different territory. One of the slowest on the EP, it’s probably the weak-point. However, the weakness of the track is immediately forgotten with “Transparent”, the band’s best showing to date. It’s the most emotional song on the EP and is one that many listeners will be able to relate to, as it deals with friendship and being vulnerable with someone you hold close. The EP actually closes with an acoustic version of the track, which shows a completely different side to Keys & Corridors, especially as it follows the energetic “Thieves”, a song filled with raw vocal talent and infectious harmonies.

Overall, Thieves is a strong debut from Keys & Corridors. Showcasing strong instrumentation, intense vocals, impressive lyrical ability and an encompassing strength that many bands sometimes struggle to show, it’s an EP that is sure to put the band on the map. Widdoes and co. have done a great job, and I’m interested to see what the come up with next. - Legendary Kids Press
